Already owned on another platform, Wait for link?

I can't really find a definitive answer to these questions, would be great if someone knows any of this.

1. I bought the full game and used the Blacksmith launcher awhile back after it initially came off of steam. The steam version can link to that eventually but the Link is down currently is my understanding?
2. Blacksmith itself seems to be down, can you play with other platforms like Steam if I just played through that (assuming it ever worked)?
3. Am I stuck waiting until that linkage can go through and playing the "free version" until then?
4. I'm assuming any progress I make now will wipe when the linkage happens?

Edit: Basically I want to play the full version but I refuse to buy the thing twice, trying to understand the process/options.

Account linking is not active yet. It should be up in the next week or so. Blacksmith is not down either. You may want to try again.

Blacksmith is working fine for me. If your version is super far behind, you might need to give the launcher itself a fresh install. They did update the launcher itself at a certain point to give people access to the test server.

I'll try that as it gives an instant server error at the moment, doesnt even try to login.

Well Blacksmith works, so is there an assumption that when the linking account happens. all the stuff from the blacksmith "server" will be available through steam?

when account linking is active yes you will just have your blacksmith account on steam.

wait for link, dont make a steam account, who knows by doing so you might complicate things for no reason, not worth the risk imo

STATUS OF ACCOUNT MIGRATION
Extremely high priority. Tried to get it out last Friday, but within this week (by 6/15) the migration will be online. Next Hotfix.

For me personally, I don't see a benefit of using Steam and have 0 issues with Blacksmith, so I'll continue to use Blacksmith.

Thanks for the replies. I would DEFINITELY prefer to use steam, but will use the blacksmith until its all sorted out I guess.
