Just a question about quest items

Can player'' dropped quest items be used to finish quests? I have like 20 goblin ears on me right now and I'm going around giving them to people until someone said the quest doesn't accept them, am I wasting my time keeping all them ears on me?

Nope, but its a nice way to troll newbies.
You need to extract yourself with the quest items to have looted status, otherwsie its handled and won't be accepted.
