Warlock: Class balance
Since I first started playing this game, I worked on making the demon form for Warlock viable. At this current build, Warlocks are pretty much required to have an Occultist Hood at all times and having their spells geared for cursing to regen health and deal damage.

From what I have gathered, to make the demon form viable you have to curse at least 2 NPCs or players and also have all 5 darkness shards available. Even with all the extra buffs, the health gained/ loss puts warlock at a constant disadvantage. When in demon form, casting spells still costs HP and the demon form melee attacks have the same range as a dagger.

All it takes is for someone with a 2 handed weapon to one or two hit a warlock as it stands, even in demon form.

try running demon armor for extra synergy. demon pact gives +50vit and like 35armor rating (idr exactly). demon form is for melee combat or to heal quick. you're not suppose to be able to stay in it forever but you can keep it longer for sure. shadowtouch for the +2hp per hit can also help mitigate the 1.5%hp/s. The lifesteal skill in demon is kinda useless in pvp or regular mobs. using it on sub-bosses or bosses, will practically fully heal you on a full combo and faster than any healer or cursing would do. theres other viable stuff to run tho, you can make demonlock work but you'll be doing more chasing in pvp cause most i'd imagine would just run until you change back for an easier fight. its a more noticeable build if you kit specifically for demon. if you run magic healing + buff duration, drink a pot before you go into demon to mitigate the 1.5%/s and you don't really have to worry about the hp.

It would be cool if they implemented some sort of limited flight function while in demon form... it would open up some interesting possibilities :steamhappy:

4 months ago everyone just cried and cried about warlocks warlocks warlocks so now they are in the rubbish bin

4 months agos warlock was just too good, I'm glad that class got nerfed.
Any build was viable it was a pure struggle to play against and you can't deny what I say, warlock nowadays comparated to what he used to be the lasts months is nothing but still hit hard

So....they took away kriss dagger, nerfed demon form (huge increase in health drain), took away 50% of the shard stacks. Basically nerfed demon form into being near unusable.

Unfortunately this is a thing IM does often. Instead of adressing the thing that makes a build or class problematic they either nerf anything but the thing that makes it overpowered (phantomize with curse builds) or they take everything away and leave a husk behind.

Demonform isn't really worth your time cause people understand the counter: running away.

wym nerfed demon form? the only thing that was ever changed with it was the 3%hp to 1.5% (which was a buff), and that was like during season 3 or the end of it. all the warlock changes i've ever seen is stuff unrelated to demon form. I'm also unsure of what you're meaning by they took 50% of the shard stacks. is it not 100% or +5 all on demon? i don't remember seeing that change. i also havn't really look at warlock passives sinces i haven't seen them mention changes to shards, but maybe i missed something?
While it sucked the kriss got removed from warlock it was kinda needed. bloodstained blade + sacing yourself was a little too nutty.

side tip: if you're running a hybrid demon build (running spells + demon pact)....you can use your own hydra, pop into demon, and get back 2/3 of your hp.

with the new gear with +will and +resourcefulness, we'll probably see more hp sacing warlocks running the 10stack buff that takes 10%hp per stack for a total of 50% magic and physical damage (i forget the name off hand i'm not in currently). I'm curious if you could combine it with shards and have 100%+ magic dmg bonus and 100% dark magic dmg. highest i've hit is ~121% magic power, could probably get it higher but idk if theres a need to x).

Edit: i just looked at demon and dark shard. apparently at somepoint demons hp cost went from 1.5% to 2%...not really a big deal. while it is a "nerf" theres a few different things you can do to mitigate the damage, so its really not that big of a change. the HP gain and armor gain look the same as they've been for the last few seasons, and dark shard is still 20% per stack upto 5 for 100%.....so im still kinda confused about this huge nerf demon got that i don't know about.

I have only been playing for about a month, I was turned on to this game watching videos that randomly popped on to my feed of the warlock on youtube. The guy I was watching never used the demon form though.

I appreciate your guys suggestions though, I will have to test some things out. I often play with my brother and the hydra can sometimes be an issue as he tends to run into the fireballs. The hydra only does 10 damage but being able to curse it MIGHT help... the double cost for all spells with the curse perk makes casting things pretty painful. Being caught by another player with anything less than 100% hp usually means death.

I haven't tested the demonic armor perk yet. I received a lot of suggestions that speed means everything in this game and I'm not sure if its worth sacrificing. My brother likes to play as a heavily armored fighter and he has gotten rekt by rangers because he just isnt fast enough.
