why are people spending more gold on white gear than on purples?
I get the quest locking for a week sucks but why are people paying 200+ gold for a single item of white gear when the same variant in purple is 100 gold less??? Im just baffled by this and I'm honestly looking for some insight from vets of the game because this is just crazy at this point...

I understand wanting to win your fights and all that... but where do you wanna win? In a white gear lobby where the most your going to get is some decent jewelry, maybe some mid tier gems for the new socketing system, a troll pelt that no one can do anything with until next week, and if your lucky a gold tier item with some wasted stats...

OR, you could win in a lobby where people have on all decent blues or higher with solid stats because they bought it to go into HR and you sell it on the market for 1-2k gold from 1 raid and vendor the ones with wasted stats...

I just dont understand the logic some people are using to play the game so if someone can help me understand why white gear is selling higher than the same items in purples... that would be great.

normal lobbies have pretty decent loot, so if you are killing bosses and have a lot of money but are farming norms it can theoretically make sense to some of those players to start with the lobby with the best stats possible. ultimately a full common set is probably like a 20-25% gear check on a naked set in pvp, especially on this wipe where there's common pants with 3 will and stuff like that.

anyway this means the meta until squire gets updated at the start of each wipe is actually farming norms to sell these common pieces to those players. as soon as squire quests come out they can get those items from squire.

so definitely dont invest in common gear -- the meta for a solo non-bossing player is farming common gear, selling common gear, and using that gold to buy something more likely to appreciate -- I personally recommend gems of any tier because people are going to be lab crafting all wipe unless they completely remove the system or giga nerf how it works.

It's because they drip feel the quests and merchant progression in a way that just totally breaks the player economy and turns the whole rarity system into a bad joke where equipment that has been designated as "common" become the most rare and valuable I've tried raising this issue several times in the past but they honestly just don't care.

i got a friend who does the same thing. he's also really bad at the game x). the second he hit lv 20 supposedly he was already buying keys and selling them. bro was taking 20minutes to buy white gear off the market just to get into a game. i kept telling him he's wasting time and money. every time we'd get into pvp he'd run away and still die. to each their own ig.

Loot is kind of crazy in norms dude, you can pull legendaries now. I've pulled a legendary out of a normal chest and I pulled a legendary gem from the gold pile in ice cavern too. Sub 25 lobbies is where it's at, anyone can rmt some bis and steam roll a high gear lobby show me how you can pvp with out broken bis.

I dont buy white gear for literally any reason ever. I'll buy a green or blue depending on sub 25 or sub 125 but I cant justify spending 100-250 gold on a white set of agi pants... thats just stupid imo. especially when i can spend 125 for a pair of purples with even higher stats.

to me its like buying a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ weapon and paying 4 times what its worth... ig if thats what your into then theres a market for it but its just stupid to me.

Seems like it but honestly I'm hoping that its a work load issue but I really think they need to work on balancing the game well before adding more classes. Kind of like trying to figure out how to feed the family and then having another....

Yeah these players are likely either RMTing or bossing. You can justify the white kit if you just cleared troll 5 times without a death in <25s you know what I mean? RMTers are more likely to buy lego and unique stuff and go lose it in HR so I honestly think these whites are getting scooped by the solo boss crowd. When you're killing troll 50 times a day, shaving a couple minutes off the fight by wearing full <25 BiS is suddenly less crazy of a concept.

With all this said, I sling this ♥♥♥♥ like it's coke and I've experimented quite a great deal with price. I think you can get almost, if not over, 500g for some of the chest pieces if there are none on market (there sometimes arent). I'm currently trying to sell one piece for 750 and one for 999 just to see what the limit is, but I've sold several pieces for 250+ and there's a bunch of different ones that sell for 80-160 range. Sometimes there's helmets, boots, and gloves in that range but the chests, pants, and weapons are the big ticket items. Always gotta check market before you sell, price fluxuates but anything over 50g is worth it imo.
