bro I just want to make a character name without numbers and ♥♥♥♥, why does the name have to be unique across thousands of players? lmao

and no spaces allowed so I can't even have something like Lord Tony

If you have a video of somebody breaking tos. If it was report by account name, then there would have to be no character names.

So you click on the character name and then it shows their account name,

not sure why this seems "impossible" to do.

steam has account names and you can set your custom name.

I hear you, I bought on Blacksmith (Standalone launcher) and on day 1 I was late getting into the game because of launch issues with Blacksmith. Long story short, yeah i have some four letter names, but not the ones I wanted. I wish players who have been around since playtests 1,2,3 or maybe even later could have preregistered one character name.

it has worked for literally everything else

it's a technical thing for risk management and resource distribution on the dev's side. probably something to do with having an account-name and multiple character names tied to certain things being linked while also not. (i'm not trying to be vague. its just hard to put into words or explain). If they had cross-platform between playstation or Xbox, then yeah, you'd probably be able to have same names with an added "1234" as a tag, like what destiny does or some other games with Cross-platforming. D&D aint there nor will they probably implement something in the future if they're doing social-spaces and guilds; i don't want multiple "kirito's" who main rogue in my guild, i'll pass. (thats not my game-name....theres alot who opted to name themselves that on NeverWinter, same with some others, it was kinda cringe)

Not sure why the character name is so strict I don't want names with numbers and I can't use spaces and any name with "♥♥♥" like knight and night is banned.
