Yeah gold storage is annoying, but maybe try trading the key for multiple cheaper items that you can sell when you need more gold or have space for more.

One way to change up the crowd; They're often more hostile on sight, however never know with the boss crews if you talk. Guess less people challenge the larger crowds?

Troll drops "Troll pelt" which can be crafted into bags that store a lot of gold. Spectral Knight has a similar item.
