crystal s-word vs magic shaft
Which one deals more damage in PVE and PVP when meleeing?

no more lobby test dummies to do the comparison myself :(

Crystal sword would do more in general since it can scale off your magic power bonus.
i think the wizard passive that adds +2 is only physical dmg. the magic dmg it shows is the added "magic power" when you cast spells from it.

if you play warlock, you can have over 100% magic power bonus and 1 tap people with crystal sword using their -10%hp a stack but +5%magic/phys power per upto 10 stacks giving you 50% (i forget the name). you could either go the hybrid route, and run "bloodstain blade" for +5weapon damage, or go spelless and run BoC (harder to manage hp without burning through meds).

I think that build is only viable for 225+ cause you need like over 75% buff duration and over 25% cooldown reduction (which is like 30+resourcefulness if not more). the more you have of both, the more utility you can get out of it instead of waiting to heal every 10seconds to keep up your 50/50%. i've tried getting the +100% darkmagic bonus to proc too but somewhere along the way the shard stacks disappear despite me not using darkmagic spells, so im unsure if you could have +100% magic AND +100% dark magic to make dark ray do over 36 a tick vs 12 (alot more with true magic, it scales to (1.0) so if you have +8 true magic ♥♥♥♥ hurts).

Fighters building Will and running crystal sword is also viable if you build for it. will also helps with buff duration so you can keep sprint and 2nd wind longer and heal more than the 40% advertised. on the higher end it could be comparable to a demons glee build in some scenarios

Sorc its pretty decent. as a sorc your mainly building true magic anyhow so crystal sword could get more action out of it too. Apex passive (that adds 25% magic bonus) does not add anything to the sword i believe because you have to cast spells specifically to activate it, since they added blocking with the sword now....they should make it to where the dmg is added onto it so it would get more use....unless you go "spelless wizard" or "spelless warlock" you cant block with the crystal sword once you select a spell, with sorc you can deselect all day to block and attack. you can also cast both spells with L-click or R-click with the sword....you just can't cast both at the same time.

What's the more effective one for wizards?

crystal sword is ok, though its better at higher rarities as it scales not only with rarity but your magic power stat so its weaker in low gear/ low rarity but it has ok melee range for pve.
if you know how to use a dagger, rondel + magic orb isnt bad especially with ignite but its shorter range and if your not used to it you'll take more dmg. Magic staff is clunky in melee as its shorter then sword but longer then dagger but only by a little, but if you use the staff mastery perk its not bad and scales the same way crystal sword does with the perk. there are other options but these are the main ones I see and use as wizard.

idk, i just use a spellbook on wizard. i think if wizard is running a staff, they're running bonk build, with +2weapon dmg, ignite, and absorb shield. sword isnt too bad, but i dont remember the last time i died to Crystal-S especially on a wizard.
