Dark and Darker

Unpopular opinion
I would rather pay for new dungeons as dlc than season passes and cosmetics

That opinion isn't unpopular, it's just insane.

"I want to pay extra for this game i already spent money on and- "
Keep thoughts like that to yourself, sir.
That's regarded brother. None of this should be in the game. We bought early access to fund development in the first place.

expansions are more ethical than micro transactions or subscription models, but the service based model will always likely target the later over the former, as they are more profitable and easier to make. I don't know if the game can support that many dungeons active at once, I want to explore more locations and fight more monsters get more modules etc.
Get away from my free lunch and enjoy your clown suit cosmetic.

the skins they could sell and have them override armors/weapons is a goldmine for them already. one example polar bear, panda bear skin for the druids bear form. tiger, snow tiger, leopard/snow leopard, cheetah, lion, lioness skins for panther.

and many more if they add more animals.

for weapons ornate (not pure gold but trimmed decorated hilts and etc of various kinds could even have them be different based on religion affinity)

-painted shields, recolored/decorated of current armors in game.

-adding horns viking helmets with fur armors/white wolf heads on shoulders.

- various gear with different trims

-more playable race skins (and an option to turn on or off any stat attribute + and -

-pirate outfit overrides and etc.

theres many even look at just the loading screen for better looking stuff lol that could be added (including more options for how each character looks)

just have each equip slot have a cosmetic option where the player can choose what override for helmet they want, body they want, cape they want, legs they want etc etc for every slot. this allows players to even mix and match suits with other suits. for example maybe someone likes the viking horned helmet a lot but wants a plate armor knight suit for rest of it. well they can. and all of this would override worn gear and weps in the game.

it took me a few minutes of thinking off top of my head to come up with all those too, and I could easily make more. surely they can make stuff like that if they hired someone to create lore/world build for their game or something for more species and etc. but for the outfits/weps/druid animal skins its pretty much common sense. ok theres a bear lets take a mental note of what bears we got. oh a panda bear, oh a polar bear perfect. oh a feline what large cat like animals exist on earth and repeat. could even go more fantasy I guess with mythology.

for the gear/weps cant get creative and design cool outfits fitting your built world lore, or have stuff thats existed on earth with regular and twists. or have all of it.

a wizard outfit with a much more majestic large greybeard, hat with rips and tears in it and folded very large, a cool cape, long tattered robes with holes in them revealing the bones beneath as you walk and various colors for it all.

war hammer pickaxe skin, regular and dwarven ornate trimmed.

theres so many things that can be done and all can be sold for blue shards or red ones.

I dont personally like battle pass pay now or miss forever type mechanics. (already annoyed with having to get HR rewards or miss them forever but atleast its free.)

but they could technically even just shift the entire set up slightly to make it better. for example highroller demigod instead of giving a limited skin that never exists again. they could have it give 3-5 blue shards or something along those lines so you can choose to buy a skins with it once per season+ then your time played earning the shards too per season.

they could then release all the skins for red and blue shards even old skins that arent available anymore and the players will pay money and invest their time into the game keeping it alive for their rewards.

then they could rework the species so they actually do something (or have a toggle to turn off any stat changes by the skin and be purely cosmetic because the player likes it) create a large number of misc species, and item/wep/gear overrides and so on. last wipes rewards were terrible for my taste, made me regret even getting it tbh. But im sure a few like it. so give us blue shards as rewards and we can get ourselves something we like.

No whats insane is the predatory monetary systems that have been normalised in video games, you aint supposed to pay for cosmetics you know there was time when you paid for game and got access to all the content contained and it was only locked by progression, Insane right?

looks like panda bear cosmetic skins already confirmed by SDF, and we will see other class specific skins I guess

I have an even less popular opinion...

I'd happily pay 50-60 a year if they scrapped PvP altogether and focused on PvE.

did my first PVE run today while doing search for room quests and it was pretty nice, I tried to revive a player with clerics spell but I guess it doesn't work unless allies. his ally came to revive them tho after mine failed.

I personally would prefer a healthy balance of pvp and pve. where pvp happens but it has a better system to encourage people to not always kill on sight.

a bounty system and multiple "guilds" would be nice. (similar to how religion is now)

these guilds will have an emote for the guilds crest that can be flashed to players to show their intentions. each guild having its own merchant/shop depending which you chose.

killing members of the same guild or innocent guilds will result in penalties in fines, bounties on your head announced to players on a little book item they can open like quest journal L. it will show name of character, bounty of gold once contracts turned in in tavern and what class they are. if theres multiple it will have multiple there. this will allow for trackers/ bounty hunters to find and take out the criminals. along with penalties within the guild and ultimately being banned from the guild for the remainder of the season.

the exception is bandits/thievs/pirates guilds. these guilds are intentionally the "bad guys" of the world and only get penalties for killing their own guild members. the thieves guild is the masters of deception and from tavern can choose 3 different guild crest emotes of a different guild. They can then flash this above their head to use as a way to ambush others who let their guard down. Also the Guardians are the police of the dungeons. they have a +20% regenerating shield of max hp when not hit it regens. They can spot fake guild crests from the thieves guild by a flashing red circle crossed out over it. (that means its a thieves guild since only they have that) aswell as other thief guild members can see the red flashing circle crossed out to know its their own guild member there. This allows for 2 strangers to randomly meet up at say a fishing hole both pretend to be fishing guild, as theres 3 other people fishing there actually from the fishing guild. they can then try to quietly pick them off and ambush the last 1 together. This would also remove the concept of teaming/unfair. because the worlds system has a law and order type of mindset to keep everything in check. if 4 thieves run into eachother within the dungeon by complete chance they can simulate a town raid and try to work together to wipe a dungeon. And if theres any guardians, or neutral/good guy type of guilds then they can all work together to fight back. It would add many new fun things in the dungeons IMO.

Nothing better than a 1 man army barbarian just trying to fish for his family working at the fishing guild and getting jumped by 4 thieves and wiping all 4 out lmao.

the wanted posters/wild west style bounty hunting would also be a wildcard. any bounty hunters gonna go for the bounty which is the bad guys not the innocent skillers and such.
Guardians roam around and can detect the thieves fake guild crests and attack instantly. but a Guardian cannot attack any neutral/innocent guild member unless they've been hit by that player once. then for the rest of the dungeon they're flagged as acceptable to kill by the guardian. (this can also bring in crooked guardians (cops) who try to get people to hit them or mess with others. it would lead to a full ecosystem of fun immersive mechanics. maybe these skillers are glad the thief comes to get the guy and hes hailed like robin hood to them lmao. and he plays some banjo music for the fishers before scuttling off into the sunset.

each guild will have a special currency too only for that guild, earned through repeatable missions. like "fish 15 rubysilver snappers" and so on then gain rewards. each one will also have shops and crafting stations for their guild too.

all skilling guilds can buy/unlock upgrades for their respective resources to be able to locate them within the fog of war on a map. (these maps can be brought up in utility bar like a torch but that means on death a criminal guild could pick up that map and also see the location/ambush any skillers there already. ) they would have different ones to unlock rather than "all fishing locations" it would be all rubysilver snapper locations, all Copper Eel locations and etc. 1 by 1. the player can progress and get further upgrades like how many resources are gained, an added backpack slot for resources. and other upgrades to speed up resource collection or other misc rare events like finding gems while mining type of things. various upgrades by each guilds merchants and the maps can be a blessing/curse.

-Fishing Guild

-mining guild

-hunting guild

-nature guild (cutting wood/plants)

-thieves guild

-bandits: can kill anyone even their own guild members.

-pirates: has upgrades for built in coin pouches within the dungeon and a % chance (increased through upgrades) that each mob kill has a chance to drop an added 10 gold coins.
they have the most expensive shop/upgrades/unlocks tho. massive gold sink. but thats because they dont have a special currency for their guild. nothing better than gold to a pirate anyways. They also have a gambling poker/blackjack etc hub that any guild member can play in with their coins. They also have crates/chests of various tiers that cost a lot and can roll a random item/gear/wep/resources. (like goblin merchant but better)

-Guardians

-adventurer guild: The adventure guild will be the jack of all trades type of people who just want to be decent at everything but not specialize in any trade.

-explorers guild: the explorers guild will be themed around tools/ropes/larger backpacks etc and being able to buy/unlock upgrades for the maps fog of war radius to be bigger and allow showing hot spots like blue and red portals inside the fog of war. best upgrade removes fog of war entirely increasing radius to full map sized. and stuff like that. They can also chart and explore for resources/chart rooms. each room they find they can use a tool to observe/journal it. they then can return the completed room to their guild as a new discovery type of thing. Same goes for resources. they can scan a vein of ore or a fishing spot etc and then journal it and turn it in at their guilds merchant. that concept.

-Odin's Guild: This would be a guild only available to barbarians and allowing them to band together to fight for Odin. This and loki's guild are wildcards thrown into the dungeon. they can attack eachothers guild on sight, penalty/banned from the guild if they kill their own members too much and can attack any other guild freely as enemies of Odin/Loki.

-Loki's Guild: same as Odins guild but for loki. This will make barbarians not lone maniacs but actual vikings banded together with other vikings, threats to all. (but barbarians would also be allowed to join other guilds if they wanted. this is just a barbarian only guild for both at constant war with eachother.) So most likey you see a few barbarians charging at you then you can know you're basically playing zombies and start swinging and firing lol.

I should add the Odin and Loki guilds can be killed by any other guild members without penalty as they are savage barbarians who mow down anyone between them and their rival faction in their war.

all of this would add a thriving economy of various mentality of people. from criminals, bounty hunters, neutrals/outlaws, people who like to skill or certain skills and etc.

this also would mean the vast amount of crafted resources/gear and etc would be from these guilds themselves. a mining guild may contribute the entire wipe worth of rubysilver.

(any guild can harvest any resource. its just they dont get the added upgrades/perks, and its far less efficient. But also any guild can craft/create/process any resource. but same thing its far less efficient.
