Extremely bad hit reg when blocking?
I don't know if it's just me but this game's hit reg when it comes to blocking or parrying is extremely bad. I've died countless times while clearly blocking an attack. I'm not talking about thrusting attacks, as I'm aware of the bug, like spear, hits through shield. I'm talking about slashing attacks, like zwei, felling axe, bardiche, etc. stuff that should be blocked reliably. Before you say anything, yes I'm aware you have to physically look and position your shield to block, I play slashers, I'm aware. The situation that really ticked me off though is when I was in a door way against a barb using felling axe while I had perfect block and heater shield. By all metrics I should be able to easily block this attack as this is a favorable weapon match up and spacial scenario. He throws his attack, I look appropriately up enough, BUT STILL GET HIT and I don't get hit once, BUT 3 TIMES IN THE SAME DOORWAY and I look on the death cam and see the axe literally hit my shield, square center but still hit. I've done everything this game has asked me to do, get in a favorable space, get a favorable weapon match up, aim the shield appropriately at the weapon and I get punished for doing what the game wants me to do. This is very common for some reason, and it seems as if my shield has a 50/50 chance of blocking, I genuinely don't know what to do as it seems no matter what I do or what advantage I have, my shield just decides when it will and won't block.

I think blocking properly is just very hard in this game.

I think it would help a lot if after death I could spin the camera and see exactly how I got caught with that damn axe. And I also think that ping has some effect on this. I had a case when a troll hit an apparently empty place with a baton, but I still died. And this was not that powerful area attack.

It's sadly a known issue that even the devs have admitted to that shields have massive hitbox clipping issues with several weapons (usually either thrusting weapons or weapons with very large hitboxes) and that has been an unaddressed for a long time.

Yes, but sometimes hotboxes decides that your shield is emptyness.

Damn, this is sad, I wouldn't even mind if it happened a minority of times but it happens so often. I'm not even mad about the thrusting weapon bug even though I know its a bug and not supposed to happen, but I can deal with it because I know what to expect. But when it comes to attacks that should be blocked but sometimes don't, its essentially rng, just makes shield fighter not a viable option.

Yeah I support that too, also along with that I'd like more accurate death cams, I believe they are slightly off from what actually happened, also if they could maybe even highlight the hitboxes that would really help.
As a 15 year long veteran of melee combat games well over 10,000 hours in medieval fighting games I can tell you that sometimes I'm going around your block by frames. Like baiting a high swing and rapidly switching to toes mid swing is pretty easy. Functionally I can feel your block and go around it fluidly. There's no long sword or heater shield user that's ever truly been fully able to stop me and probably wont be one. What I'm saying is your block could be could good but the offense is stronger. As much as you adjust, the swing is even more adjustable. Getting a cheeky block in every now and then is solid it can ruin me when I'm not expecting it. Leaning on blocking in this will cripple you. The experience I've gained from these games is feeling what blocks and hits without seeing it. Your eyes are fooling you, the mechanics aren't what you see it's invisible really feeling where the block and hits are is an art. That's why I play so many of them for so long learning the basics is easy and mastering it is very hard. Yes they are micro adjusting the swing arcs to go around your block and you are probably using your eyes and logic to block which is getting you stomped. It's all instincts. That being said the game is kina jenk and sometimes solid blocks don't work you're not wrong. 3/3 times though is probably your fault, it's not that jenky that's statistically human error.
