Pay 2 Win / Grind / Microtransactions?
I saw this game awhile back and it caught my eye. When it went Free To Play, my interest dropped significantly because it wreaked of forcing either Pay 2 Win mechanics, 100 different Micro-currencies, grinding, or just non-stop DLC microtransactions.

How badly are these things being implemented before I decide if I wanna play or not?

One or all of them need to be used to make money for the company now that it's a free game. Unless the developers are playing ads or just doing this for free from the kindness of their hearts (they're not).

So, how heavy handed is the player milking?

Do they respect the player base or not?

There is no pay to win you can't buy gear or gold.

You've been given free access to most of a paid game. Free option was only created to allow existing owners to download for free off steam then link their existing account. That's why free to play exists. It's still a paid game at heart.

Only thing that's present are cosmetics beyond the "Legendary Edition" upgrade that gives you full access to High Roller, Selling on the Auction House (free players can still buy) and a Character Slot for every class (F2P is currently limited to 1).

Of all those aspects everything except the Character Slots are negligible imo, this is not Diablo Immortal by any stretch.

That doesn't make sense. Are you saying I can download this for free on Steam but then I have to buy it in a separate launcher?

What I said only applies to people who had existing accounts and were playing the game before it returned to steam.

No, once you have it on Steam, it's ON steam.. that's it. You CAN get it on the Epic Games Store as well as their native launcher, Blacksmith.. but it's not a requirement to playing or creating any accounts.. merely linking from any one over the other.

Bro I'm being milked, but not of my money. This is one of the better games on the market and the F2P is just an introductory version.

There is no p2w - no random loot boxes or paid items that give you advantage. Devs explicitly said many times that they don't approve of the predatorily monetization models. You can upgrade to the full access to the game for $30 and there are character skins and emote animations you can buy, which are purely cosmetic.

Free to Play limitations are described on the game's Steam page, there is even a chart, not much point repeating it all here.

this game is as pay to win as buying a snickers bar and claiming it gave you the power to win the track race

The skelly skins are pay 2 win if you can pay to look like a dungeon mob in this type of game its a clear advantage. The other skins however I don't have a problem with they come with buffs yes but also penalties. The mob look alike skins are the only ones I don't agree with.

Buying the game is mostly for the extra character slots and unrestricted access to trade.
They seem to be making most of their money off the upfront sales + cosmetics right now.
There is no pay to win unless you count RMT.
I believe they respect the playerbase but i also get the feeling they are making the game they want to make first and foremost. This last point is part of why i keep playing.

So having no equipment on and being at a severe disadvantage stat wise is somehow p2w? Just get some game sense my dude.

They get minus 10 armor rating woooooo lmao such a disadvantage. They also get +10 magical resis. so looking like a dungeon mob comes with no penalty.

Okay so I'll make this simpler for you champ. If you want to look like a mob you have to be naked, there are no geared mobs in the game, if you are wearing gear you don't look like a mob because mobs don't wear gear. So if you want to look like a mob you have to have no gear on which leaves you at a stat penalty for all your stats. Health is lower, armor is non existent, mag res and everything else too. Damage is lower, move speed is lower, blah blah blah. I hope that makes sense to you. If not let me know so I can rephrase it into simpler words again I don't mind.
