Dark and Darker

What's the deal with the spyware anticheat?
I got so bummed when I found out this game is going to scan every single bit of my PC's connected storage. I am so keen to play and as such: will/have the devs addressed this glaring privacy issue?

Congrats, you've found out how anti-cheat software everywhere works.

Will you know move on to play board games and offline single player games?

you would only care if you have sus videos on your hard or cheat programs. this is how anti-cheats work nowadays (in this case it's not really working but it should) like riot vanguard which is incredibly strong and accurate

Firstly, not every anti cheat does this, take one example: battle eye. Further, it's apparently a topic for debate within the gaming industry whether or not kernal level anti-cheats are entirely rational when lower level solutions continue to be invented and work.

The advice that "worried about them finding ya cheats?" is so mis-leading.
'Guys! Guys! Anti-viruses do hash checking now! everything is fine!'

My point is that I am not provided any advice as to what this software is doing absorbing all the bandwidth I have to my drives and that leaves me with an inevitable dis-trust.

And look, the anti-cheat does not even work.

'What have you got to hide?' 'Everyone is doing it, it's fine.'

These are the excuses that are routinely used to justify real life laws, principles and practices which can be objectively described as authoritarian and or oppressive. I don't have anything to hide except the passwords stored in my browser, the backups of my phone which includes messaging history, bank information, photos. The list goes on peeps. I just take these responses to mean we are ignorant to our demise in favour of the tasty treat that is bliss.

Hes right tho.
Anti-Cheats rarely stop any kind of cheating, their very very VERY easy to work around and they are incredibly invasive.
No one should have kernel level access to your rig period.
If you believe otherwise you have "I watched a youtube video" level of knowledge on the topic of privacy and security.
