How to add people you met in game lobby?

when I search their name that shows up in game, it simply says no player found. just met multiple people today, tried to ad them and it just wont find them.
is there a way to look them up and find their character name? this system sucks :/ lost those people forever seemingly

You need their account name, not their character name! So sadly no. But it might come back, hopefully

whisper them, ask for their account name, use your brain, add friend via account name.
