fighting against longsword is super simple if you know how to control space.. you hit em in their blindspots and drag your swings. if you're a simpleton you can simply wait for them to swing, then you can punish them with a free hit.
You're wrong.
EVERY Main Fighter agrees that LongSword is extremely overpowered compared to all other weapons.
Its damage, reach and versatility is unmatched.
The 'Lantern Shield' specifically made for counter attacking after blocking is child's play compared to being 2 tapped by LongSword.
As other users have stated, No LongSword 'should be' able to Parry 'Large' or 'Heavy' weapons.
Anyone defending it with 'just do this, or play this way to beat it' is largely ignoring statistical facts that the weapon out performs everything else melee in game.
We understand why daggesr are so popular is because that ♥♥♥♥ is hard to parry.
We learned why "movespeed" is the meta because ♥♥♥♥ fighting rondel fighter or longsword fighter just throw arrows and spells at them till they die or run away.
i dunno were im going with this
Mate, you write so, because, let me guess, your playstyle s ranged or rogue-like. Thatswhy you say its simple.
Not that easy to strike in blindspots with any melee, excluding short sword or daggers. Animation action speed is really slow, you can always react on "blindspot hit". Then two strikes - dead.
I killed a fat cleric few days ago having trash blue gear and longsword. First time got hot legendary stuff. I saw his shock after he got this two hits. This guys tried to run, didnt help anyway.
This parry feature shouldn't give such damage power.
if there is one thing that longsword is not, its the broken part that you are talking about LOL.
first of all longsword has a really small hit-box for parrying and riposte.
second of all not only longsword is not broken its actually not a good weapon in most case scenarios and its not the best weapon for fighter (let me explain).
not only longsword has a really small hit-slow effect, it also has a really bad attack speed and very long recovery, for example falchion has ms ( movement speed ) penalty of 25 while longsword has a ms penalty of 30, the falchion has a hit-slow of 20% for one second and longsowrd has a hit-slow of 17% for one second.
now try to explain to me why a two handed-weapon should have a lesser hit-slow of a one-handed weapon?
you can't, you know why? because its does't make any sense.
longsword were specifically made for medium range combat and just little good for long range combat, even with that being said if you try to trade hits with a bardiche barb
you will still loss.
a bardiche barb has more attack range and more damage as of a fighter with longsword.
a rogue can literally hug a longsword fighter and just stab him to death not because he is rogue but because longsword is useless when they hug you.
you go into some social media or youtube video and see a thumbnail like LONGSWORD IS BROKEN, well its not to be honest, even streamers who play longsword fighter say the only good part about the weapon is the riposte and generally they rather run a arming sword with a heater shield if that didn't have existed.
Don't make me laugh. The sword is good; you simply are not yet.
I also believe that the riposte should do no more damage than a secondary attack with a double axe or a bardiche strike. It just needs to be nerfed in the long run because it's way too strong right now. The only question is when Ironmace will take care of it.
You literally GAVE them the parry, and you're complaining it's broken when all you had to do was not aim at their head.
He read you like a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ book
People saying skill issue are also bozos looking for points. its very easy to parry fish on a high def build even if you dont know what youre doing. It basically comes down to is the other person a moron or not. you as the LS user have little to no actual control over how it goes as anyone skilled is just gonna avoid the parry.
Why?
