How does this game make money?

There is a currency called Redstones that you can purchase in game either through the blacksmith launcher or with steam currency which can be used to buy skins,emotes and upgrade your account from f2p to legendary status.

I believe it cost 15 redstones to upgrade which is equivalent to 30 USD. It's basically like buying the whole game as you unlock everything.

Its not really "free". Take the f2p as a trial version/demo, to try the game out and see if you like it. If you do you can purchase 15 redstone shards (30usd) and upgrade to premium. This will give you more character slots (so you can play and level all classes), shared stash so you can swap items and gold between them and highroller mode.
I think its fair, people ♥♥♥♥♥ about f2p limiting them but thats kinda the point? This is pp game that has f2p trial/demo version so anybody can try the game before spending money.
I played for about 10 hours as a fighter and enjoyed the game and wanted to support the devs and play other classes so i did the upgrade.

This game is very unique I find, I can't stop playing it, and i'm more than happy to support this indie studio, I think they have done great with Dark and Darker.

the game is so fun , i bought the full version because i wanted to have more character slots . have 150 hours now and its still fun . Its rare nowadays to find good games .
