Dark and Darker

Dark and Darker

PVP destroyed all pleasure in playing. And possible way to fix game.
At first DaD looked very interesting. I liked idea of short trip for exploring and looting dungeon. But now I just hate this game.

Almost every encounter with another player ends with my death. Because of that I stuck in endless same annoying trip in grey equipment where I try to take some loot and quickly run away avoiding meeting someone. Yes, eventually I can buy some good arming and try something new (for example to go in second level of dungeon) only to lose it when suddenly some player kill me. So after 90 hours I can't find anything good in game, only fights with ordinary mobs and kills from other people.

Sadly developers probably don't want to add PVE mode. So I will wait for Dungeon Stalkers. They had PVE mode in beta. Hope that it will available in release version too.

But I have idea how to divide people who like PVE and PVP without creation of different mode. What about adding count of kill for players and matchmaking based on this count. Thus people who don't kill or rately kill will play with each others. And people who like PVP and kill often will play with same players.

There are pure PvE games out there with much better combat, Vermintide or Dark Alliance for example. They are specifically made for PvE, while PvE in DaD consists of killing braindead AI speedbumps and is just something to do between PvP.

See, those games are not as fun as DaD, the only problem I have with PvP in DaD is the balance. It is very one sided if the opponent is geared to the teeth, and there's very little you can in the way of running away from the fight, as every character is essentially the same speed.

go to the dark and darker discord, post that you are a new player looking for a group to help you and learn how to play. soon enough you will no longer be prey.

In all honesty, making PVP optional and instituting some kind of tutorial or newbie level maps would be a very smart move if this games devs want to keep and increase the player base.

Doesnt really matter how this is done, it could be just like high tier and low tier dungeons, with low tier crap gear and basic kit in pve dungeons while better gear goes in higher tier dungeons which are pvp. Then as players get better they will naturally migrate to pvp dungeons to keep pvpers happy. this creates a kind of gameply loop that involves moving to pvp.

Rather than the current one.
Spawn in basically with nothing and no idea whats happening, lose tons of health to traps and randomly being hit in the ear by a friend. walk 2 feet and die before leaving the first room.
Spawn in find some loot, figure out that no exits are not open until half the timer is gone and die while desperately looking for exits.
spawn in find an exit after carefully looting some stuff then just as the exit opens get brained from behind by some level 120 cleric.

Which is fun i guess in its own way but only to a certain kind of person ya know?

There is no reason to play if there is no PVP.

People have to stop caring about losing virtual items :laughing_yeti:

Eh, items are meh. its more about the satisfaction of getting out that exit with some sweet gold lol. least then you can up your base level of gear a bit so you can last longer in combat and maybe get even better shinies.
Individual pieces of gear? pfft.

One would think that eventually folks would learn to adapt to the PvP and map environment. I don't enjoy playing with random PUG duo or trios because everyone's usually on a easter egg craze smashing, looting and making an awful racket (plus just ghosting the team on the first stair exit they find).... and not LISTENING. Avoiding and winning PvP is as much to do with knowing (ahem hearing) the other players/team first.

Stop and enjoy the quiet every once an while, and you're "awareness factor" will go up +1000%. Observe quirks in rooms that are tales someone has been there or may be hiding in ambush (too many lights are off, too dark, open chests, but no other doors are open, mobs still there to serve as a distraction...)

Can never say this game isn't "fair" because PvP is getting in the way of freely looting and only expecting to deal with mobs. Everything about the game is a backdrop for PvP.

90 hours ? This game just isn't for you then and thats fine. I have less than you and feel decently confident
Some people play this for PvP, myself included. Perhaps it's not for you? I think PvE a mode would be boring, only the bosses currently are tough if you haven't learned the moves.
I tried the game for 4 hours more or less i didn t escape one time because players farm me. A friend said the same thing. In my point of view, it is a huge issue, people wont play because of that.

Everyone who has ever played the game started like that, and yet thousands persisted/ still play dozens of hours later. I honestly don't think it's an issue, that's the whole hardcore pvpve dungeon crawler experience.

Agree with you (maybe that s why most of people plays rogue ?) unfortunatly, % Gain of players is decreasing since the release last month

If anything, there isnt enough PVP, most people run and dont want to fight. Quite boring doing only PVE.
