There are currently 2 variants of crypts. I suggest checking out this interactive map as it shows all the names of each module, which is what you're looking for: https://darkanddarker.map.spellsandguns.com/map/Crypt-01-N
I always have this map open on my 2nd screen.
i can understand the appeal, it really plays well with the light mechanics altough i am not a big fan about that personally
thats why i love the ice caverns most; very bright and very easy to traverse, a lot of open spaces to have battles in
i think the crypt and the ice caverns are the total opposite design wise which is greate since it increases the variety
i really like the inferno part of crypt
Use torches. Throw them around and look for torchlamps on the walls to light up.
Yeah i get that but thats like the main thing: in ice caverns and goblin caves i do not have to do that.
In ice caverns and goblin caves i can focus on looting and hunting players. I can get into a room and immediately see ~4 of the exit doors as well as a big majority of the room, so i can see wether other players have been there / what the general situation is.
When entering a modul in the crypts you see a narrow hallway and thats about it.
Playing crypt feels much more like a horror game, much slower. A litteral dungeon crawler.
Goblin and Ice feel much more action oriented.
This is especially funny cause i thought in the beginning the crypts would be my favourite due to the setting.
As this game is built around layers, conceptually each layer should be darker than the one before it. At least this has been the case so far.
It's being reworked as the map, due to it's open nature, gave an unreasonable advantage to rangers and rogues, as well as sweaty kitted out death squads spawn rushing by jumping over walls in the outer modules (where everyone spawns).
It will likely return with more closed modules, and I think the devs want to work out player funneling between matches and layers first, because ruins is the top layer of crypts -> inferno.
Previous season this resulted in low pop/empty crypts.
am i unlucky or have i missed my opportunity to do the quests?
Crypts i think only changes layout in high roller but do not quote me.
Regarding the offtopic: I saw that people complain about the mob density but i do not get that: When i move from one modul to the next i usually have to fight like 2-6 enemies tops; i feel i have to at least fight an equal amount in both goblin caves or crypt if i want to move on, and they also have traps which ice cavern doesn´t really have,
also in ice caverns you can almost always take a direct way from A to B; goblin caves and crypt are more convoltued
