I don't want to have to play every ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ match like I'm a stealth ninja, only taking a couple of steps, and listening intently for player activity. Staying in the <25 gear score lobby is also a red herring because plenty of veteran players intentionally stay in that range for the gank fest.
The game was most enjoyable when it first hit steam and everyone was clumsily running around the map. A few awkward battles or catching a battle ax to the back of the head because you were excited you found a *gasp* purple item in a chest.
Except now the new car smell is gone and at all tiers people are running around without chest armor without their weapons for max speed and constantly tip-toe so they can listen for distant ambient noise. They don't even loot the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ dungeon, their inventory is half filled with potions.
I don't begrudge Dark and Darker, I hope it succeeds, I don't regret my purchase, and I'll play a little longer. However, having to metagame every match, even in the <25 gearscore lobby, is getting very old, very fast.
idk it just kinda sounds like if everyone's got grey starting gear or if everyone's doing Best In Slot green gear wouldnt they essentially be on the same level anyway? like whats the difference between those 2 matchups? all the buffs of one are countered by another, unless its a RPS thing of like a warlock just kiting a fighter and cursing them to death.....at that point if its all the same if we do hypotheticals on BIS and all that why even have any gear at all? grey vs grey or max BIS purp vs max BIS purp just equals out to the same # of hits, the same fight...
or maybe it's just one of those RNG games and sometimes you find someone not geared for what you have and sometimes you do, and that's part of the thrill?
Or you can try and create a new meta. Meta slaves don't usually understand why their builds work they just know it does.
Quite unconvinced for the melee part. There's not that much mecanics we can use to make a difference w/o beting on gear. Sure it's doable, sometimes, but mostof the time a better weapon or armor value are what makes you win.
