With that being said, if you do exhaust all your spells, then yes. You have to rest to recover them besides Warlock.
it depends what GS you're playing at. 25+ norms you have access to both Spell Overload and 10 spell builds which will give you more spell casts. in HR dungeons the very high end meta of wiz is 10 spell Spell Overload once you have 50 knowledge, or about 40-45 if you're playing with a bard.
typically you use Magic Missile (MM) to help your party clear PvE, the alternative is some wizs use Staff Mastery with Ignite, I personally don't. I run MM and often play with a support druid on the team so he usually has to campfire for spells between teamfights anyway, and we join each other if one of us wants to camp so it's not so bad. you don't need to hold on to too many MM charges for teamfights.
people kinda accept when they play with a wiz their PvE clear is below average and they expect you to carry during teamfights. every class has strengths and weaknesses
