Warlock is painfully unfun to play against
I don't think Warlock is broken but their kit is absolutely unfun to play against, especially if your a fighter or barb. Theres something so frustrating about dying to a guy who kills you by spamming curse of pain and phantomize off cooldown. You literally have three options which is run away and hope you have more ms than them, fight mid range with a sword and die, or try and force a long range fight which usually results in them just running away. I feel like every other class feels fair when I fight them because the fights always seem dynamic with options to outplay the opponent but with warlocks I never have fun even if they end up dying. I guess this wouldn't be that big of a deal but they make up 90% of the playerbase of solo runs on high roller, so it feels like at this point they are the only class I run into. I think my brain has lost a few more braincells than I would like staring at a some bald white dome do the same two moves over and over again.

in solos i dont really have an option for you, except use sprint skill or try to back them into a corner...

if in a group, or if youre any caster, im FAIRLY certain their phantomize thing ONLY works for players and physical attacks, NOT magical attacks...
A warlock with their book out is faster than a rogue with a Kris dagger out.
Let that absurdity sink in as well as the fact their class can use stupidly good martial weapons for what is supposedly a class that calls upon their sugar daddy's powers to obliterate their enemies.
I guess innate martial weapon proficiency and heavy armor got added to that roster because f*ck us for not selling our souls to some archfey hoe to suddenly know how to use a halberd and have a damn near perfect stat spread for breakpoints.
It's like someone made a fighter with better stat spread that can cast spells with better mobility than what should be more expected of a rogue; not a fighter, not a warlock, not a barbarian. A rogue. (These boys are supposed to be the slippery class yet everything else has it too easy to chase them)
Adjust Warlocks identity because edgy Gary stu has way too much still going for him with almost next to no downsides.
the point of warlock is you get some magical powers that hurt you to use, and you get some martial stuff to make up for the limited magic and self damage...

its not as powerful in martial as fighter, or as many spells or the lack of self dmg that cleric or wiz gets...

also if he uses plate that slows him way down, takes up a perk slot, and makes him take more magic damage...his physical buff spells damage him over time typically, and if he doesnt take the plate perk he's generally squishy, so if youre a fighter, block his stuff and hit him, he cant cast while swinging at you.
With the exception of darkbolt warlock spells have a really short range. You can pretty easily kite them if you're one of the faster classes. As a barbarian you can absolutely murder them before they can react if you catch them in tight quarters, avoid fighting any class in large open rooms as a barbarian.

if you really are running into 90% warlocks this is a good chance for you to learn to counter them and just roll 90% of the players you encounter.

All this yapping does not explain why rogues don't get shortbows to use or barbarians the same martial weapon proficiency as fighter.
So why in Merlin's saggy left testicle does a warlock even get the options for these innately? Taking a perk to use plate as a mostly caster class is absurd on top of those abilities a lock has to begin with.

rogues arent a ranged class, they get hand xbows and that's it, it's not how they're designed, their main focus with all their perks and abilities have to do with sneaking around and getting knife hits with stat effects.

as for barbs and weapon proficiency, im not entirely sure, but barb has alot of things that debuff enemies and buff himself, not to mention str affecting weapon dmg if im not mistaken...so adding more prof might make him too strong when combined with everything else, esp with a team with buffs...

would you rather warlock not need a perk to use plate? he's a half n half caster/melee class...so giving players the option to lean more into melee at the cost of spells not working as well or not having as many spells (since, iirc, plate cant have spell focused buffs ftmp) or being squishier but getting more spell based buffs from items, is a nice way to add variety to the class and allow people to have different playstyles.

i dont see how any of that is OP in some way, or in your case how it's "unfun" exactly, past how any class is 'unfun' if you die to them...

oh also im skeptical a warlock with book out is faster than a rogue with his dagger.

I beg to differ. Rogues are hit and run asf and you are on some nonsense. They are known for using shortbows for ambushes. Why in the hell would they use a hand crossbow other than one handed practicality when they are one of the loudest things to use in a dungeon?
SNEAK ATTACK IS SNEAK ATTACK.
Yes, warlock is the most unfun class to (solo) PvP against. I'll even place it above a decent ranger.

right, which is why you use knives...backstab em...

having a rogue with all thebuffs they can use on knives, but on their bow where you cant attack them and they can just invis and reposition to hit you again, leaves them at NO risk unlike in melee....it'd be OP...and if you dont let them use their buffs then their meager str means the bow does little damage so it's useless then too....

idr if hand xbow gets the buffs or not, but i THINK it does...
My advice is to pack magic protect potions, sprint, and a survival bow. Also dont be afraid to sprint after them WITH the bow out. You'd be surprised how well it works.

As a barb, well.....

Rogues even with talent get 10 steps while crouched. They are supposed to be good at hit and run; not a straight engage.
It absolutely is insane. That stealth timer doesn't go on cooldown either until stealth pops and it's not a Warlocks intagibility perk to IGNORE ALL PHYSICAL AND INCREASED MOVE SPEED TO RUN AWAY.
playing into a warlock is the most terrible experience ever, im using my invis as a wizard and it insta gets cancelled because this mega sweat lands one ability on me. this is my last post on these discussion i am uninstalling until they overhaul the matchmaking and the combat system
DoTlock is indeed the least fun thing to play against, mainly because of Phantomize and Flame Walker making retaliation next to impossible if you aren't playing a class like say Ranger that can out range them.
