Squire gear locked behind quests
I don't mind the idea but getting stuck with "kill 2 demon bats, 2 berserkers, etc" as my only way to unlock GREY GEAR seems ridiculous. My options for <25 are limited due to the lack of knowledge on any other gear, forcing me into a build that I don't want to play. It's obnoxious and serves no purpose.

I've unlocked all gear but the cloth from tailor, merely because it's a shot in the dark if I can actually get to a demon bat by the time the timer is done, let alone actually hold one of the red stairs. Either I get rushed by players or simply cannot clear all the way to one of them in such a small amount of time. I could ignore everything and rush to one, hoping to kill it- but then I have a load of inferno enemies chasing me at lightening speed. I don't mind some challenging quests but as the starter quest to unlock basic gear (and thus other builds due to spell memory) it seems significantly worse than the others.

Also, would love it if they fixed the Spell Memory and Knowledge updating only after I enter a game. I keep swapping gear around until it shows I have enough, and can cast my spells- only to get in lobby and have them greyed out...,

This is silly: "forcing me into a build that I don't want to play"... "lack of knowledge on any other gear".

The extra choices in base gear will not make or break your map-run success. You'll quickly find better gear on bodies and chests, breaking crates etc. I've had no issue dropping in base gear and walking out with 100-150 GS each time, regardless if my base gear is what I wanted to play with or not because of my lack of squire equipment choices.

Do runs as a team and you'll work your way faster through mobs to get those odd creatures. I don't bother hunting for them, this game isn't a RPG adventure-story... the quests are really the point of it, just a way to get free stuff (which you'll probably not have room to store anyways).

I think it would be nice to have a special shrine that allows casters to change out spells in the dungeon, as they acquire more spell capacity from their found gear.

The Tailor's quest is kind of the only one that stands out to me, the other core vendors are all pretty reasonable (yes even the 6 Cobalt Ore one), but for some reason the Tailor demands going to Inferno? Don't quite get it.
