Could use some tips for Ranger.
I've got 71 levels on my Ranger, and I started with a Warlock but decided to try Ranger. I've enjoyed the class, but it's been a love hate relationship. I've been using the crossbow and windlass crossbow, used a spear for a while but recently switched to dual swords. My passives are Sharpshooter, Crossbow Mastery, Ranged Mastery and Trap Mastery. Active skills are True Shot and Backstep, I've switched out Backstep for Penetrating shot sometimes. I'm having trouble dodging melee attacks with dual swords, which is probably in part a skill issue, hence why I took Backstep which helps. Another issue is not getting gap closed by other players, Rogues I'm pretty much screwed no matter what I do, but I feel like I could do more to keep distance from other classes. Any tips to help me out here?

There's also another build I've seen/died to with a Spear and Survival Bow with the Knockback skill and Multishot.

I'd Use A Recurve/Longbow + Crossbow Or Windlass, Not Windlass + Crossbow.
Or Recurve/Longbow + Sword/Spear.

Crossbows Have A Little Too Long Reload Times For Dealing With Players Sometimes.

Also If You Put Your Weapon Away (With X) You Run Faster, Helps Keep The Gap Open.
Beartraps At Doorways + Multishot = Dead Players.

I Know That Crossbows And WIndlass's Do More Damage, But The Ability To Shoot More Often And Use The Multishot Abilities, Really Make Recurve Or Longbow Chunk Players.
I ment I used Crossbow or Windlass, depends on what I find along with dual swords, should've clarified mb. I really wish crossbows got more active skills, like a rapid reload skill, where for a duration u reload much quicker, or a skill that fires a bolt that inflicts poison or bleed, etc. crossbows rarely get love in games. crossbow with trueshot and pen shot, especially on a windlass pretty much ends a fight in my experience, especially if i nail a headshot, either i kill them in a follow up shot or i get out of there, but yeah i can see why a lot of people use bows. bear traps are really good tho, i should use them more. I'm going to try using lighter armor if possible, with some agility, strength and vigour, problem is the clothier quests suck (im not very experienced killing daemons)

yeah i encountered that too, got killed by it first time i saw it, 2nd one i managed to win with the windlass, largely thanks to better range.

If You Save Up Some Gold, You Can Buy Some Good Cloth/Leather Armor From The Marketplace. Check It Out Sometime!
