I want the damage dealt to pop up as a number.
Like when you hit a scarecrow.
Or I want to be able to practice hitting the scarecrow whenever I want.

Nah not showing anything makes it that much more hardcore, not knowing how close you are to killing someone based on the dmg you have done to them

Would be unfair.

Some class have DoTs which means you can track the other player by following the numbers popping up.

A combat log after the match that shows the damages your character did and took would be a good compromise.

I wouldn't mind a combat log, especially useful in duo and trio where you might not be the last one of your team standing so by the time you get to the point of spectating the guys who killed you they may have already healed up and you don't get a good sense of how much damage you inflicted. Would also be useful to see where your strengths and weaknesses are to know how to adjust your playstyle/skills/gear.
I just want damage numbers over bosses and minibosses
I think a separate single player training ground would be a good idea
