There's still some skill ofc, quite basic as it's mainly about body leaning, weapon drags and accels which is also a thing in Mordhau and Chiv but in addition to other mecanics wedo'nt have here in DnD.
So OP is quite correct. He said it on a twitter-like tone that makes his opinion less important than our urge to spank his face BUT let's be objective, he's not that wrong.
I agree with this man.
Going for a copy pasta of Mordhau's mecanics would bprobably be the worse possible idea as mordhau is extremely unappealing when it comes to mastering it. As opposed to M&B being more intuitive and clear but with a core mecanic being fully directional which is miles away from DnD.
It's better to leave it this way than to try to make it more complexe, risking to end with another mordhau-like gameplay aka absurd and janky movements to "glitch your way through"
This guy has been covering blocking for a while and is decent at higher level PvP.
You can't tell me there is NO skill involved if you watch these HR fights in this vid, especially that 3rd fight vs. the barb: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sHmHaIF21pQ
Also boring? I can imagine that barb fight had his blood rushing quite a bit.
And instead of improving somehow its just boring.... OP might feel welcome in the DbD Community they have the exact same mindset. I loose..= boooooring killer
yet the still is going to keep losing players until its dead for the lack of fun actual melee combat
I'm sorry it's a genuine skill issue, memes aside, I find it thrilling.
Just because you dislike the simplicity of the combat doesnt mean everybody does.
Those games allow for a more defined 1v1 fight, but I would argue the group fighting mechanics are oversimplified due the huge zerg of players common to those games to the point that Dark and Darker is actually quite a bit deeper as soon as more than two bodies are in a single equation. You won't see Wizard haste/invis plays happening in Chiv to get behind a group and waste them, that's for sure.
And the other thing is that if melee was more similar to Mordhau or Chiv, you would end up with too much mental stack on the player to have extra mechanics like spell casting.
