Dark and Darker

Is there even a huge difference from Rare to Legendary items?
Seems like Epic items are far cheaper than Legendary, like a head piece might be sold for 30g if it's Epic but 300g if it's legendary, but the stat increases from the same item as a Legendary seems negligible. Am I looking at it incorrectly, or am I better off just filling my stash with epic gear and not buying 500g legendary chest pieces?

I am fairly new and want to accumulate gear for when the ranked season begins.

Usually you will get an extra stat as the unique level goes up - green, has one, blue has two, purp has 3 and legendary has 4. The combination of meta stats for the time frame (update cycle) equates to certain stats being more sought after, esp for certain classes. I haven't played in a bit but like if you had a dagger with magic damage stats and ran poison on Rouge you would increase the DoT on the poison as opposed to having another of the same quality with trash stats like resourcefulness or the like. So, in turn, that legendary item which looks the same is probably not the even close to being the same quality hence the 10x price increase.
So I guess it is still worth purchasing. I guess I glossed that detail over.. I feel less dumb for wasting gold on pieces now. Thanks. lol.

While the weapon damage and the armor rating don't scale as much as they did in previous game versions, the attributes still do scale.

The static attribute increases by 1. For example, green gear might have Strength 1, blue Strength 2, purple Strength 3, yellow Strength 4, etc.

The number of random attributes also increases by one. Green gear might have 1 extra stat, blue 2, purple 3, yellow 4, etc.

You have 10 active gear slots, so the difference between Epic and Legendary gear would be 10 static attributes and 10 random attributes, plus the difference in weapon damage, armor rating, etc.

The ranked season has already started.

Also, you can easily die even in full Epic/Legendary gear. Do not get attached to your gear. You always "rent" it from the dungeon and it will claim it back when the time comes. It might even be the very first game you wear that gear. Especially if you say that you are a new player. Might make sense to do a few rounds of high-roller without the costly gear to learn the ropes, as the enemy attack patterns are a bit different than in normal dungeons.

Legendaries are kind of over rated IMO because sure they get the extra stat roll but they are also so rare which means finding one with all good rolls for your class is super super rare and super super expensive.
