Are people abusing a brightness setting or?

I've got rangers with perfect accuracy in pitch black darkness multiple times now... Are there ESP cheaters already or is their some abusable setting I need to know about? All I know is I can't even see the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ shooting me yet they can after I've extinguished every nearby brazier. LMAO

Ive gotten multiple early hits as a ranger because ppl forget about potions when hiding in the dark

I did!! That's why it's so confusing. The only reason I was able to even figure out where he was is they didn't think to do that... Still killed me but yeah.

Most players have brightness turned up, and there are some graphic card software settings players have used/use, but I think the game client detects it, possibly as cheating. I've also seen players claiming there's a work around using geforce filters. I've not looked into that.

There are defnitely cheaters around, and ESP is the most commonly used. One of these clients provide a 'no shadow' mode, which presents the full map without darkness. If you're convinced a player wasn't able to see/detect you, you can always hit the report button after you're killed.

then idrk, might be that they put their brighness all the way up or saw you because of smth else, but in my 30 hours i havnt felt like i`ve died because someone was cheating

I appreciate all of this information, I have nobody really knowledgeable about that side of the game in my circle yet and I'm foreign to youtubers that cover it outside of jokers like General Sam so I appreciate it!

IIRC Dark and Darker doesn't actually scale brightness when you should be completely hidden - It doesn't simply reduce your graphical visibility, it actually effectively removes your avatar completely (I'm not explaining this well I know), so if they're at a range where they shouldn't be able to see you they can't, no matter what software they use

Justify it as you want but it is definitely not intended by design.

Models aren't rendered in shadows, the game is called Dark and Darker for a reason.
Just report the person you were suspicious of. Until we band together to do something about cheaters and cheat software providers you'll keep getting your PvP experience ruined constantly by stupid apes with money and an internet connection.

Peoples bump brightness to max and you have peoples using screen philters which do give advantages and you can see in total darkness. Also yeah having potions equipped do ♥♥♥♥ you over.
