Steam has a 2h limit on their refund and I'm sure that you wouldn't be able to play every class in those 2h to a point, where deleting them would hurt.
i checked out some first time players and they often say: "Oh i picked the wrong class";
givign them at least the option to try out the class they feel is OP lets them see the weakness of that class
also if s1 really deletes their character and then finds out that their stashed items are also lost they might just quit outright
i am having tons of fun trying out the different classes, now that i upgraded, and i think it is a missed opportunity to show new players the variety that the different classes offer
retroactively upgrading f2p now to 2 will also cause a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and it might be too late since the wave of new players will soon reach the peak; i still think it is the right thing to do if they want to increase player retention
Edit: Also having multiple characters might incentices the shared stash more which is another reason they might buy the full version; from almost every angle 1 is the worst number they could have picked
Play the class that feels like ♥♥♥♥ thus not liking it. Might as well delete it and try another one. What's the issue? You also gain levels fast enough
