The loot RNG is very dissapointing.
When looting smaller chests and basic enemies it makes sense that the stuff they drop isn't always the best but when you take the time and effort to kill the bigger tankier enemies and they drop just as bad if not worse loot, the same goes for opening the bigger more dazzling chests. All the loot spawns seems to be mostly white or green no matter what chest you open or what enemy you kill. There is no incentive to kill the bigger enemies or to bring lock picks to try and do the janky quick time event to open the locked chests because locked chests do not spawn better gear either.

I know if you want better gear you need to go down the red stairs into the depths but the issue is that the gear you get normally is just disappointing you only get 15 mins (Which is not enough time) each round and you can loot dozens of chests, big, small, ornate, and basic and they basically always give the same subpar loot.

If you kill the stronger enemies they should guarantee a drop of a good piece of gear and by no means have the option of spawning white quality gear. Same goes for locked chests they should contain better quality gear and more dazzling chests should also guarantee good gear. Also when you loot corpses and chests it should take into account your class and have a higher chance of spawning gear for the class you are playing because the amount of times I do not see ANYTHING spawn for my druid is insane. I am honestly much better off stacking a full inventory of jewelry and vendoring it then buying stuff off the flea market then hoping the game spawns anything of "Good" quality for my class. I can run multiple raids in a row and not find a single weapon to replace my squire weapon I spawn with.

Nothing is more disappointing then killing a tough enemy or opening/unlocking a very expensive looking chest and getting absolutely nothing for doing so. You could at the VERY least have a guarantee drop of a expensive item to vendor for say 200-300 gold so that way there is an incentive to do the QTE for unlocking chests and taking the time to kill the tougher enemies.

The game is assuming you'll do it 100 times, not 1 or 2 times.
There are people who farm the big guys like they're nothing, and that's who the game is balanced around.

This sounds bad....

Also the word you are looking for is incentive not intensive

Normals is basically the learning area or place to get basic gear to then build a kit and go to hell. Then you have more chance of blues/purples. Once you have a really good kit, whether it's from selling/buying on the market or finding them you go to high rollers/high roller hell.

The enemies you have been fighting are just sub bosses. There is an actual boss in hell which has a gold pile you can loot afterwards with better gear

"or to bring lock picks to try and do the janky quick time event to open the locked chests" This x 100. But other than that, go back to playing diablo 3/4

fun fact, most the items you are currently selling to the vendor were worth significantly less gold to vendors a few seasons ago. so a 150 gold raid now would give you like 30 lol

You don't really need to do RNG things.

Goblin quest gives a bag worth 4000 gold on market in just 5 quests (it takes me ~11-14 runs to do all those quests on a fresh character) and it also gives other items and gold including a blue cloak.
Note this also gives good gold on top of the value of the quests. Not as much as farming items for The Collector but this also gets a lot of pvp action since it requires running around map a lot.

A run focusing on items to sell to The Collector gives around 500 gold. (smashing all pots, barrels, boxes + opening every chest found)

White items are worth a lot, most sell for 50-120 gold. (since you can bring them into gear score 25 queue at a really cheap gear score cost)
