Controller support

Is there any hope for controller support? Hoping to get some friends into the game but they are strictly steam deck players.

Unless we are specifically talking about Gyro controls, controller support would be pretty poor for this game. Precision aiming is a fairly important part of combat due to headshot multipliers being so massive, and without some sort of auto aim (let me be clear here, auto aim would completely ruin the game) standard controller controls would just be at a massive disadvantage in any PvP encounter.

Couldn’t you filter controller users with auto aim into lobbies with one another to mitigate any discrepancy in control
Inputs and assist? Instead of just saying it would “ruin the game”. That’s a pretty poor outlook the topic. More players and accessibility to a broader audience is better for the game.

Iv heard people playing on steam deck right now with no problem at all, i myself play on controller and iv been for months now using steam's built in controller support, i added the game to steam as a non steam game months ago so that my controller would be usable in DaD, now that its on steam already it should be even more simple

no we couldnt because the game isnt apex or fortnite, we dont have 100k +players playing concurrently, like i said in my other comment, you can play and just get good without aim assist

and yes it would ruin the game, aim assist is op, yes its WAAY harder without and made me rage 100s of times since i use controller but its better than not playing at all (cant use my mouse anymore since i hurt myself playing too much and doing exercises)

Honestly from my time spent with the game so far (and from old playtests) I don't really see a need for aim assist even on a controller, this game doesn't really feel like it demands snappy twitch reflex aiming to me.

Of course even back in the playtests I never played high roller so maybe that is very biased towards "rocket tag" gameplay or something.

I don’t care about having aim assist, you are the one who brought up aim assist originally, I was just wondering about controller support so I can play with my friends who don’t have a PC.
