The closest recent example is like a free weekend where you have temporary full access as opposed to the unlimited restricted access that a demo/trial would give you.
It's actually quite simple really
If people were allowed to bring high grade equipment into normal they would easily be able to dominate every enemy and player in the dungeon,
this would be terrible for new players and extremely boring for people with good equipment. I was able to farm out a good deal of gold, and bought some basic equipment, all common, killing all of the mobs that I ran into was a breeze, and I was able to very easily bully most players.
This would be worse if I could bring my uncommon stashed items.
Normal with only common items.
Low-roller with max green quality items and playable by free accounts.
High-roller with any quality.
I really don't think they would add it, but would make it much more fun. More fun for free to play to be able to use some of the items (although only the low quality ones) they get and it would split up the gearing more so it isn't so high jump in gear (not having to face bis gear with green items).
Some notable trials/demos are:
Monster Hunter Rise has a free demo version which lets you get a feel for the game.
FFXIV has a free trial that gives you (nearly) full access to everything but the 2 most recent expansions.
Demos and Trials haven't been lost entirely but they are definitely rare.
I don't see why not.
i played way prior to f2p. The groups purple stacking would make the lower level dungeons nigh unplayable tbh. Not to mention their current free to play demo release kinda just killed any desire for any of my friends who didnt try the play tests to never want to touch it.
Just...so many full purple mobs everywhere.
So your friends are upset they can try the game for free?
