Dear players,

Dark and Darker was never supposed to be a F2P game. The steam version has a very simple job: Give new players a taste of the base game with limitations. The game is unforgiving and very hardcore. This is not a game for every player, even if they are hardcore players. The F2P version should help you with the DECISION WHETHER YOU ACTUALLY WANT TO BUY THE GAME.

If we talk technically, it is a demo or a F2P -version? None of both. Demo usually is a version outside of the normal game that lets you test the game. This is not the case here since you play parts of the normal game. Is it a F2P version? Also not really, since the F2P is only meant for you get first impressions and idea whether you like to play that game or not.

For somebody who does not folllow the game from time to time is it really hard to understand how the devs thinks and what they think is a fair monetization. They are even being very empathetic. The quiting rate of new players is high in this game. So instead of having a new player wasted 30 €, they can test the game for themself in a limited environement. THIS IS A BIG W from the devs.

When i cant test out certain things like Builds i wont buy the game.

Simple as that.

Even as a Demo the experience you make as a F2P is bad.
So people rate it down. I understand that.

I cannot. I cant make a build because the game prevents me from doing Highroller.

Grey and White Items dont have stats on them.

Boy do I love getting green blue purple loot just to vendor it and wear whites again!

Plenty of white items have stats on them. Doing quests unlocks more equipment for your squire, so you can do lower tier builds like that when they aren't on the vendors. More quests unlock the further into the season it gets, so your options increase as well.

Why you think you should get features of the full game? If you like the experience you had, buy it. If you dont have money, then this is a problem even the devs cant fix.

I understand the rating the game has.

The best the devs could do is adjust the F2P experience a bit further. But iam a big supporter that this game should be bought. It is not a contester for F2P.

i literally just found this game on steam after playing the last test a year ago or something.
been reading for 5 minutes and this gear limitation thing seems to be the stupidest thing and the major issue everyone dislikes.
even the playtest didnt have this limitation, what gives

Simply buy the game on their website. Their inhouse launcher is good.

How much does it cost to upgrade to premium? i see it says it costs redstone but what is that in RL $? I've yet to install the game just attached it to my account. asking before i install
