My dude are you ignoring that it is over working peoples HDD’s and is nowhere in their privacy or anti-cheat TOS?
Besides can be disabled in match and your progress is still saved?

any proofs tho? some guy posted a screenshot of it scanning the files which is what anti cheat does like vanguard lmao
the AC is definitely horribly inefficient and destroys HDDs and hell it doesnt even do its job correctly but calling it spyware...

Calling people conspiracy theorists for legitimate technical concerns with a games anti-cheat implementation makes you seem disingenuous. I welcome you to provide criticism to our concerns, but I don't really care about any bad vibes you get about it.

Like, proof that it scans disk? Open the game and boot up resource monitor, you can see it for yourself. Proof for their intention? Much harder problem, could be malicious, but much more likely to just be a bad implementation of anti-cheat.

It's bad for your disk health, too. Besides that, any info that is cached by your browser could get collected. The "nothing to hide, nothing to fear" mentally works great so long as your confident that the laws won't change. Maybe the next regime will outlaw your furry porn, or my 3D printed gun files.

Beyond this almost every day in the news I read about another company which was not being responsible with the user data that they collected, they are hacked, this data is sold or leaked by criminals, and then more people are victims of fraud or blackmail or identity theft.

Protecting your data is as common sense as wearing seat belts or making sure that you have working brakes while driving your car.

So if tavern worker is a anti-cheat, I have a couple of questions. One, what are it's permissions? Admin? System? Anti-cheats need to be able to search your computer top to bottom, usually requiring admin or system permission. A anti-cheat isn't a very good anti-cheat if it can't detect cheating software in the deeper parts of your computer. Unfortunately, cheats are downloaded and stored deep into your computer to avoid detection, usually requiring system access to reach them. I can understand, to an extent, why some anti-cheats would need to have higher permissions in this regard. Second question, how much resources is it taking up and why? Anti-cheats can run in the background and not clog your system in the process, there is no reason it should be hogging your computer's resources. Anti-cheats being busted for stealing data and other malicious things is nothing new. A lot of the time in a lot of games, people are just fear mongering about a program someone doesn't recognize or don't have a clue what they are saying. Until someone worth their salt is able to look into it further or the devs come out to address the problem, this really shouldn't be something to freak out over. Chances are, if it is something bad, it is usually the company behind the anti-cheat that is at fault, if Tavern Worker was outsourced.
