Are you referring to blacksmith launcher ?
If yes you just need to close it and it should be close totally without be in the background.

ahh the first time i closed it, the game crashed, so i assumed this was the cause, but i just tried it again and its fine now.

The only weird thing is that for a moment in the past if you keep the launcher in background you have around every 5 min an automatic update which put it the launcher back on your screen and sometimes an anti virus notification

yeah it sometimes alt tabs me just to show itself to me and i dont understand why it feels the need to do so, but perhaps it is doing a tiny update

I mean they're not allowed on the Steam platform until the Korean court case is resolved (assuming they win). Developers are still hopeful they'll be put back on Steam which is why they aren't trying to develop their own launcher very much.
