If you'd take your time to look at the big picture, it almost feels like Nexon is just abusing their legal rights to take down an lower competitor who got the same idea and reproduced it better enough to hurt their wallet.
(and im not gona lie, its not an uncommon story in Korea for business owners too to get rivalled this way, id suggest you watch "Itaewon Class:, it could open your eyes on the matter and youd see what im talking about.)
I looked at the assets between the two, and even on the Unreal store assets- I couldn't find that model of troll anywhere for Unreal Engine- implying it was stolen from P3. Likewise, the door model was stretched as per Nexon's complaint.
A few other similarities that are too close for comfort-
P3 also contains a “stealth” mode where players can hide from other players and their
environment. While the idea of a stealth mode is not unique to P3, P3 uniquely expresses that idea by turning the gameplay screen in grayscale. Dark and darker copied this.
Players in P3 can open treasure chests. In most other games, as in real life,
that action would consist of reaching for the lid and physically lifting it with a hand. In P3,
however, characters move their hands in a distinctive circular motion over the chests without physically touching the chest. Similarly, characters in P3 can bandage their wounds by using a distinctive circular hand motion. DaD copied these motions.
And most damning against the 'It's unreal store assets, they can't copyright it' argument;
146. In their public statements, Defendants contend that it was fine for Defendants to steal Nexon’s selection of assets because each individual asset is, by itself, owned by the Unreal Engine Marketplace. Defendants’ contention is contrary to the Copyright Act, which protects “a work formed by the collection and assembling of preexisting materials or of data that are selected, coordinated, or arranged in such a way that the resulting work as a whole constitutes an original work of authorship.” 17 U.S.C. § 101
147, The Copyright Act’s position is sensible. Defendants’ position is not. If Defendants’
were correct, any developer who purchased assets from the Unreal Engine Marketplace would have no protection for the overall look and feel of their games. No matter how creative a developer’s selection of assets, the selection could be copied at will by any other developer. Works of enormous creativity would be left unprotected by copyright simply because the building blocks of the work came from the Unreal Engine Marketplace.
148. The law does not treat other creative works in this manner. English language books are protected by copyright, even though they are built from the same twenty-six letters of the alphabet owned by nobody. Most of Western music is built by arranging twelve notes owned by nobody, but songwriters receive broad protection for their works. The Copyright Act does not provide for any lesser protection to video games
Okay, your kinda real annoying now, could you stop reply to my stuff like you were super biased maybe?
Like, all i've said weren't lies and everything from Darker & Darker is super generic and literally Everything is literally coming from the Unreal Asset Store.
Now it almost feels like your making sh*t up just to have an argument or that your purposely trying mislead the general public eye on the matter talked here.
Most game mechanics here have also been seen in even WAY OLDER games that what Nexon did, Remember the game from 1999 called Thief ? no ? if not, maybe you should, because it literally features everything D&D had in therms of game mechanics and dark environments except the battle Royal part.
And for that matter, Eidos/Square Enix isn't making a big deal about it, why? cause IronMace were not their former employees !
And that's where my whole point is, its so easy to see that Nexon is just taking the piss cause they f*cked up with their team and old project, otherwise P3 would just had just happened.
And im pretty sure from a legal standpoint, if your fired from your compagny, and you decide to make you own and just do the same stuff they did and do it better cause you had the project at heart, your are legally allowed to do it, cause you cant own an idea, its only competition at this point.
And like i said earlier, Itaewon Class, go watch it, you'll understand how dirty the company can play there and that they all seams not afraid of laying to get that money out of you and own you, and its disgusting.
I challenge this, frankly this smacks of being completely untrue.
*IF* you did beat two larger companies than Nexon, it clearly wasn't in anything like the same scenario.
Point one, you still say you think the police searches turned up nothing because we would know by now. This highlights your total lack of knowledge on the speed (or lack of) in these things.
Your comments on other things, and clear bias just shows you beating two companies larger than Nexon extremely unlikely.
Then there's your comment that 'Its most often the case they dont' (lie) about the underdogs. On what evidence or statistics do you base that on??
Everything I wrote there is in the courts hands, and from the US law codes. As is, until IM proves that there was no malicious actions behind Choi's own actions and that the game was not a copy from P3, then IM will lose the case.
It's not a matter of him making his own game because he had the 'project at heart'.
He broke contract by using Nexon assets- the time and effort he spent in the game for the year prior to him joining IM, the time that Nexon paid for and in turn, is Nexon's asset, in another companies work.
As Nexon has laid it out, the contracts signed sound more like Non-disclosure agreement: "What is done in Nexon, stays in Nexon."
The guy you answered to is clearly a propagandist fanboy just bent on spreading misinformation, lies and manipulate everyone to like their evil overlords IronMace. Be it here, Discord or Reddit, they attempt to manipulate the Truth and convince everyone that everything is okay and their narrative is the only real truth.
It's laughable tbh, specially since they tend to get banned non stop here LOL I love these forums since they don't have their biased mods bossing over everyone here like in the rest of their community, just banning people that say anything against the sheep mentality.
Half the reason i'm here is to see people get banned. I know i've been reported but-
Not banned yet!
