You buy a game that only works if it can connect to a server and if there are players. Once they shut down the servers, you lose your money and can't play the game anymore. One has to be pretty stupid to be OK with such a thing, and if they have so much disposable income to waste them on online-only games, they should give their money to me, I can buy a lot of Chinese and Lasagna with that extra money.
If this game had PvE and PvP with bots and didn't require servers, I'd support it, but it's just greedy and shortsighted developers. If you ask them why their game is online-only, they can't give a good explanation, because they don't have one.
