Nexon lawsuit against Dark & Darker IP seams to be extremely quite frivolous now.

By what this Youtuber points out about the gaming industry's work standards. they show us some basic facts that let us know that Nexon may be stretching & abusing their legal extent to play as some fake victim (A classic Amber Heard case if you ask me).

By knowing all of that, it feels like they just screwed up themselfs a good game concept that they canned in the past and that they are just trying to silence a lower ranking competitor who got the same idea working in their favor, making them look like they are unfaithfully abusing of the copyright act at their unfair advantage//

I think it is even more stupid to speak against a company that produces quality games like DaD. At the end of the day, good games is all that matters for gamers. You don't seem to be here to play games, more to harm the company for some reason. I bet you are a Nexon employee.

In case your wondering, my opinion:

Who will win? I have no idea, I've looked at a lot of evidence for both sides but doubtless theres lots not in the public domain.

Who do I want to win? Since I don't know who's done the dirty, I don't have any favourites. At the moment, Iron Mace seem to be shady as hell, and from what I gather, Nexon seems to be your generic large developer that doesn't give a damn about anything but money.

What do I think? On the face of it, it seems Nexon are moaning about a lot of things they shouldn't. Though again, not everything is in the public domain. However, the people at Iron mace are quite simply either very stupid, or very shady. They have made a number of decisions which are really bad. And that fundraiser, be it done under knowledge of the highups or not, really put me off them. And it smelt of BS (you don't spend money on an office and sleep on the floor in sleeping bags when you can do everything remotely).

Honestly, there are some real idiots on here. Does anyone actually sit down and think behind the pros and cons of Nexon paying people to post here??

Personally. I just think that ppl are just taking sides simply because of an ethical perspective, Saying that code was stolen and that the poof lies within how similar the game looks, makes ppl run away and jump conclusions without giving it much attention.

But tbh, at this point, we kinda all know if it gets resolved in court, and if what IronMace say is true, that they will be able to prove that its only a similar game/concept Unreal engine bought assets, and that nothing was stolen from Nexon except their ex-employees expertise and worktime.

There's an element of truth to that, but the bits that bother me is the blind cultism. It's a reasonably common occurrence these days, but it's so depressing how easily people are led.

in my case, my beliefs are based in the proof given from the comparison of files in the DCMA copy shown in this video and my personal knowledge as a an indie dev myself knowing that Unity/Unreal Store assets cans be baught under new licences and used free of any copyrights by anyone in that manner.

(The best Example i can give of that is Example: On Steam, MotorTown and Perfect Heist uses both Synty's Polygon assets but are indeed different games/publishers)

So to me, its only logical and acceptable to have 2 similar games produced with the same base assets and using similar game mechanics and with its code, especially when it was made by the same ex-employees !

I think it's more of a case that Nexon isn't trying to say it's a case of simple asset stealing - i.e. those images/characters/dungeons etc are ours, but more of a case to say that the culmination of all these things show that they were stealing a game largely worked on by people in their employment.

The very fact Nexon included all these from the unity store - including the weblinks! - says this is the case to me. otherwise, why include them?

I personally think it's a case of 'Look at how many similarities - this is clearly something of ours which they worked on while in our employment' argument.

But I'm not legal, nor have I access to all the evidence. But to me, this would make waaaaaaaay more sense than simple asset stealing.

Another reason I think this, is that Nexon are not stupid, they have pointed out the ones from unity (is it unity, or unreal? I can't remember) and would know Iron Mace would also point this out in any legal battle.

one again your ignorance on the subject baffles me, first of all it wasn't in the unity store but the unreal marketplace. Also Nexon did not release a list of assets BUT IRONMACE made an announcement talking about their assets where they explicitly said there were 950 identical files between p3 and DaD because they were store bough assets and since you keep asking for proofs while not providing any yourself you can either go on read their official announcement or read that part that I took the time to copy for you.
