Dark and Darker

Rangers and Mages.
I feel like rangers and mages need a buff against NPCs, but a nerf against other players. it takes 2 quivers full of arrows to kill one singular skeleton when it's ALL headshots, and mage does like zero damage to NPCs it feels like. against players they are too strong dealing half hp in one hit, i don't understand the balancing

Yeah, they need a buff PvE wise, but on the PvP side they are really strong classes

You feel like the two classes that can cheese the whole game needs a buff to cheese even more efficiently? Hmm, no thanks?

Don't get me wrong, I understand melee users deal more damage but like, they are in melee range, more likely exposed to damage, either from mobs or even swings from teammates.

Ranger is by far the easiest to solo AI

Wizard does incredible damage, mostly just spamming arcane missile. Please play more before you review.

When it takes 2 quivers to kill one skeleton, no, they are not the easiest to solo AI. Fighter and Cleric out do Ranger in PVE. not having a shield means you have to kite to kill anything. kiting in a room is bad, because you agro the entire room. learn to speak objectively and not automatically go "oh you're bad you don't know what you're saying" mage and ranger need a buff against the AI because of how much of a sponge they are. it takes a year to clear one room as a ranger and by the time you're done, you can't even loot because you have to run from the zone.

2 quivers to kill a skeleton? Stop shooting skeletons in the knee, contrary to popular belief it's not the place most vulnerable to arrows.

it should not be taking you 2 quivers to kill one skeleton. If you have the perk and are hitting your headshots you can kill a skeleton in 2-3 arrows with the longbow

I play ranger and with the default bow it takes a minimum of 5 headshots and 1-2 body shots to kill the average skeleton

You dont get the longbow by default. honestly I wouldnt argue using it as most of the time untill you get a good goldflow its entirely unusable

the woodsman sells white ones pretty often for around 30g, if you can't get that much from a single run then I'm not sure what to tell you. I just buy a few when I see them so I always have some in the stash

Yes I know but as I said 30G a match is often impossible for solo players especially low level ones

Mages have 1 spell and archers 2 hit mobs with a longbow. Also only mages struggle in pve, rangers are the easiest pve class, having 3 self heals, traps to stun mobs, the pavis, long bows for cheese, and access to melee weapons. Rangers just need to survive 1 dungeon and they are fine and they can easily camp zone for half the game.
Mages are useless until they get a great orb dagger/book. The entire balance of them is in the "magic damage on hit" of magic missiles and the dot ticks of fireball.
Getting a teamkill with chainlightning is almost impossible, they have to have low mr, be stacked, and you need 2 or 3 uninterrupted 3 man casts. Most are fully geared/decked wizards, or cheaters abusing infinite bounce range(subtle maybe some are more obvious).
For example. Barbs can spawn level 1 with like 43% magic resistances and 130 max health. That takes..... A LOT of fireballs when they hit for 10/ 20/ 30 depending on placement.

Low level players aren't really in a position to judge balance. I am a solo player who has taken Rogue and Wizard to 20 and working on my Ranger now (15).

I think rangers are fine, you can't really judge a class until you unlock all the abilities and play with different combinations.

If you're dying to AI as a Ranger/Mage, you're playing the game wrong.

If you're playing a back row class, maybe try staying in the back row in a party or keeping a distance from threats solo.

Man eontype so many things i wantet to disagree with you just for you to then clarifie a sentence later what you mean exactly

but that aside
Maybe something like different resistances could later on realy be interesting to allow the game to be more finely tuned also one thing we might be able to agree on the starting gear for Ranger realy should not be the survival bow atleast give them a Recuve maybe (Wizard while i realy hate the staff it frankly does work and no need to make them the only class to spawn with 2 Weapons

I disagree with that personally, while they shouldn't be the only (or even main) consideration, everyone, every wipe has to start over at low levels.

Lower levels are just as much a part of the overall balance as the higher ones, and it is completely unavoidable as well.

The only thing I'd like to see added to Ranger currently would be an junk tier Arming Sword so they are consistent with other classes in having some form of melee option (even Wizards have their staff in desperate situations/for destroying things after all).
