Wipes are not fun! Work on item sink please
I have dropped Tarkov and The Cycle because of wipes (and cheaters).

Just how little you must think of our time, to implement mechanic wiping literally all your progress, characters, items and effort you put into game? Don't you think its a game's problem if only solution to fix game's economy is wipe? If you got bored of game, starting over is solution? Sure, go start on your own.

Instead of going easy stupid way of wiping, please add proper economy like Eve Online or Albion Online. Make item sinks, repair sinks, and good proper stable ratio of new and lost items.

Item sink Idea 1 - every time player dies there is 30% chance of every single item in his inventory to trash. Trash have no value.

Item sink Idea 2 - Make a meaningful repair system. If you have durability 10% on item, you must carefully think if you wanna trash it, or repair.

Item sink idea 3 - Prestige system with wipes for hard-players is also one of the sink solutions, it's good for both sides players - casual and hardcore.

There is so many possibilities, do not go stupid way of losing all your progress pls, I am really fond of this game and wipes after premiere will sway me from this title.

Do you remember the frustration after you lost save in rpg after hours of grinding? Do not make that in multiplayer game! Please put effort into proper economy. If I lose my all gear to another player duo to skill difference/gameplay its ok. But losing save is not.

Many players will probably play not even knowing this game will wipe, and you will keep losing playerbase after each wipe like The Cycle. Majority of players will not enjoy losing everything.

New News! The Cycle will remove wipes! Their playerbase was more and more gone after each wipe!Majority of players hate them! Please reconsider D&D Devs!

They've noticed that most of wipe lovers are just people who enjoy completing a To-Do list instead of playing the game, is the same in tarkov. Hunt-showdown is a great example of a balanced extraction shooter. If the gear-gap Is not skyrocketed then wipes aren't needed at all.

Well, to be honest that's your opinion.

You do realize when EfT does a wipe, they get a huge influx of people again?
Hellgirl Jan 1, 2023 @ 12:15pm
EfT wipes were not there from beginning. In a hardcore extraction looter this is very helpful to create a fresh atmossphere.

Just think what not wipe would d to this game.

Wipes seems like a far better idea than what you suggested here I'm afraid.

Tbh wipes are fine by me, it gives a feeling of freshness despite games being years old since everyone goes back to zero in a way.

That's also good for new players as they aren't starting with as much of a disadvantage if they wait for a wipe.

As a Albion player

1: Albion online is a mmo and to keep its economy from imploding on itself gear breaks and repairs are super expensive. The loot rewards from pve are also dirt poor becuase of this too

2. There is a massive power gap between new and old players

3. New players often are forced into working in a group with older players and whales to survive or are force to play the lowest content and struggle to survive any pvp encounter.

Dark and darker wiping makes sense.

what about if in dark and darker wipes were there as part of the lore and while the severs were up for the 3 or so months you were diving into the dungeons to find special shards or loot for the merchants to peace together a long lost magical item, a ring say. the devs have all ready have put in secret rooms and Easter egg type of rooms the treasure room for instance this could be expanded to add in lore and more Easter eggs type of puzzles think CoD zombies to hide these shards between the 3 levels of dungeons and you would have to dive many many times to get the right maps and timing to get and the shards though the map cycle.

And then once the wipe you move on to the next story in the lore and instead of a ring this time its a magical pendant, with new maps and and tile set in dungeons. this would be great reason to have Easter eggs and secrets in the maps per level to keep people interested while levelling.

we all know that in reality its only the big players that find out all the secrets but at the same time people still play zombies to do the Easter eggs and have fun doing it over and over its was the big hype of CoD zombies... dark and darker could have that same hype per server wipe.... and i mean its only say 4 sever wipes a year. 50% of the time you will be at full level and seaching for the good loot...
Wipes are needed just like any other extraction looter.

Similar to gtfo they are adding new maps and removing old and every time they do this they are moving the story

Wipes are a way to make things fresh again. It isn't fun coming in late in a games cycle only for everyone who has been playing since launch to body you with unique gear. That is why it is good to put everyone on even footing once in a while. If you care that much about your loot then extraction games aren't really for you. I wouldn't mind if they let you keep cosmetic stuff though.
Legendairy2 Jan 1, 2023 @ 3:45pm
Wipes are fine and devs already confirmed that is the route they are going with the current wipe time frame being every 3 months

When the game releases they'll have wipes every 3 months.
Ninami Jan 2, 2023 @ 5:46am
Wipes are essential to keep games like Tarkov, The Cycle and Dark and Darker alive and healthy for years. Imagine trying to pick up any of these games a few months or even years after it's release, core players would go around with endless of the best equipment and would destroy anyone trying to play for the first time.

Also when hardcore players have farmed enough and have endless gear, they will begin to lose interest and play less. With wipes you can bring these players back because everything is fresh and most of the time they have also made changes to the games/added new equipment between wipes.

You are definitely in the minority to dislike wipes. Your suggestion is even worse and destroys the entire idea of inventory management.

You just assumed losing everything is better than idea of proper item sink? You jester.

If there are more geared players, then if newb players manage to kill them, they will earn better loot for themselves. Not to mention there are levels, 3 floors, high rools etc that will segregade player database. Wipes gained such stupid popularity, and they were not even intended. Just because economy in Tarkov and Cycle is such a bad it needs wipes, does not mean they must do it here too,

Devs said they were not sure if they should add wipe system or proper economy. Unfortunately they went for 3 months because of Tarkov cheater masochists fanboys. If you got bored of game and want to start fresh - start by yourself.

Dev's exact response to this on the QnA:

"It is very likely that there will be season wipes"
Lowbei Jan 2, 2023 @ 11:58am
Nah risk v reward is the nature of the game. Thats not going to change.
DaWeezerd Jan 2, 2023 @ 12:48pm
