Why is there so much negativity towards having some kind of separate PvE mode?
Just wondering, as it's not exactly a leap or stretch on the developer's part to create a mode in which only PvE characters can engage with the game? It seems incredibly elitist/arrogant to try and gatekeep the experience to PvPvE when it's such a small addition to the already amazing game concept, where could the harm be in broadening the target audience?

Well, if people have options, that means they won't be forced to deal with a certain kind of player who need newbies to kill so they can feel cool. Because this particular kind of player doesn't want to fight people on or above their level of skill. They're the wolves, see, and inexperienced players are the sheep. And the so-called "sheep" simply are not interested in being eaten, for some reason.

Most players have zero issue with a PvE mode being added provided 2 conditions are met.
1: PvE characters are fully separated from the normal mode
2: PvE mode isnt even thought about, started, pre planned, anything until the game is FULLY released and being successful. They are a 26 person team, they need to have 100% of the focus on 1 mode and getting all the features, items, classes, etc in place for that mode before trying to split up and split resources that they clearly do not have and have openly said they do not have

Because then they gotta waste time and money making PVE content in the game, when all they should focus on this making more PVP maps,

How would making PvE content for their PvPvE game be a waste of time

Not that kinda game. Devs have to work on that mode, and slows development of the game. Divides playerbase between the two modes.

If they don't want to do it, they won't, and thus, no time wasted.

Nobody's saying the devs have to work on this mode immediately. Could be something they release after the game has gone gold.

Also, the player base wouldn't be divided because a ton of people who don't want to play the standard game mode won't even be buying the game without a PvE mode, and those who end up feeling frustrated by gankers hanging out by escape portals will clear out of the game soon enough.

how would you balance it? If you made it so its loot is bound to the pve mode then why would you play it more than once given how easy the ai is?

AI's not guaranteed to stay the same. Whether or not a PvE mode is implemented the devs say they want to improve it.

As far as replaying it, you're not always going to be guaranteed to get a full set of best in slot equipment on one run are you? Further, and I suspect this will apply to the game one way or another, there's going to be additional levels of equipment added that's harder to get and only available in High Roller and whatever other modes they add to the base game. So you'd be diving back in for better gear while fighting harder enemies for it.

I think a mistake a lot of folks are making is imagining a PvE mode in the game as it is, an early alpha, instead of what it might be like with the main game fully completed.

woo cant wait to farm that same armor set and kill those same skeletons so I can show my drip to my pvp friends, your joking right?

This game is awesome but its also new and I strongly believe people are deluding their vision of what the full game will be. Its a extraction game its pve antics are there to slow you from leaving as soon as you arrive and its the other players that create the retention. Its not a mmo or the dungeon crawler that can stand on its own without the pvp in the pve

Who's to say there'd be only one armor set to farm and only skeletons to kill? Again, thinking of a PvE mode in the alpha version of the game isn't the right way to approach this.

Also, like, are you under the impression that people don't replay PvE games? Do you... actually think that?

I would love only pve, because I don't think pvp (in every game, except dark souls) is fun at all.

I say get the spiritual core of this game done first. THEN they can begin to think of PvE only content... I want both, and there is a way to do it, but its got to be done right.

Have you seen the suggestions (which will be demands) for PvE?

It starts as only-PvE mode, but gets into filling the gap PvP would leave like "random encounters" which other players currently fill.

Not to mention focusing on PvE means less focus on the classes because more focus on NPCs, traps, etc. and less on the player characters for both PvE and PvP.

Balancing mobs and adding mobs instead of improving classes and talents. How many are even able to deal with Skeleton Champions or other elites without complaining?

Shortsightedness which ignores the underlying consequences seems rampant like a pandemic.

How would they waste time and money on PvE content, when PvE content is an integral part of the game anyways?

Did anyone suggest to solely focus on PvE?
They could just take everything from the main mode and remove the other players/groups. BAM, PvE.

I really don't need a PvE mode, but it really seems easy to accomplish, unless the devs want to really flesh it out, which they shouldn't as this isn't the focus of the game.
