1: PvE characters are fully separated from the normal mode
2: PvE mode isnt even thought about, started, pre planned, anything until the game is FULLY released and being successful. They are a 26 person team, they need to have 100% of the focus on 1 mode and getting all the features, items, classes, etc in place for that mode before trying to split up and split resources that they clearly do not have and have openly said they do not have
Because it might not be what the developers want to do?
If they don't want to do it, they won't, and thus, no time wasted.
Nobody's saying the devs have to work on this mode immediately. Could be something they release after the game has gone gold.
Also, the player base wouldn't be divided because a ton of people who don't want to play the standard game mode won't even be buying the game without a PvE mode, and those who end up feeling frustrated by gankers hanging out by escape portals will clear out of the game soon enough.
AI's not guaranteed to stay the same. Whether or not a PvE mode is implemented the devs say they want to improve it.
As far as replaying it, you're not always going to be guaranteed to get a full set of best in slot equipment on one run are you? Further, and I suspect this will apply to the game one way or another, there's going to be additional levels of equipment added that's harder to get and only available in High Roller and whatever other modes they add to the base game. So you'd be diving back in for better gear while fighting harder enemies for it.
I think a mistake a lot of folks are making is imagining a PvE mode in the game as it is, an early alpha, instead of what it might be like with the main game fully completed.
This game is awesome but its also new and I strongly believe people are deluding their vision of what the full game will be. Its a extraction game its pve antics are there to slow you from leaving as soon as you arrive and its the other players that create the retention. Its not a mmo or the dungeon crawler that can stand on its own without the pvp in the pve
Also, like, are you under the impression that people don't replay PvE games? Do you... actually think that?
It starts as only-PvE mode, but gets into filling the gap PvP would leave like "random encounters" which other players currently fill.
Not to mention focusing on PvE means less focus on the classes because more focus on NPCs, traps, etc. and less on the player characters for both PvE and PvP.
Balancing mobs and adding mobs instead of improving classes and talents. How many are even able to deal with Skeleton Champions or other elites without complaining?
Shortsightedness which ignores the underlying consequences seems rampant like a pandemic.
Did anyone suggest to solely focus on PvE?
They could just take everything from the main mode and remove the other players/groups. BAM, PvE.
I really don't need a PvE mode, but it really seems easy to accomplish, unless the devs want to really flesh it out, which they shouldn't as this isn't the focus of the game.
