lol, they deleted my post criticizing this game!
not a good look at all devs...

no wonder you haven't released this game in early access yet. you can't delete negative reviews like you can negative forum posts.

short version of my original post: in only 5 minutes this game made me hate it. nothing is explained at all and the graphics are terrible. could't even figure out how to use magic as a wizard... that said though even in my original post i made it clear that i see the potential. i said i would probably check it out again once it has some more polish and the kinks have been worked out.

to heck with that now... i will never touch a game from devs that are actively trying to silence criticism. go ahead and delete this post too i suppose. really doesn't matter to me because this is the last time i will ever think about this game again.

i mean you could have at least tried to learn the game before making such a baseless review.

but also they probably didn't delete it the darker and darker forum changed at some point and old posts were lost

You put your post on the playtest forums which were closed

Oh I completely agree my guy!

Just think about it. This open enrollment FREE playtest that is specifically designed to collect data to help them improve and test the game's engine to make sure that they're able to release a product that they can sell and achieve consumer satisfaction is not completely improved or tested yet?!

OH MY GOD it's terrible! I am also incredibly stupid and a giant man-child when it comes to dedicating more than 5 minutes of my attention to anything that challenges critical thinking like other productive tasks such as showering, cooking a decent meal and holding a productive job!

Enough with the banter. It's a playest for a very unforgiving and challenging game, so if neither of these things or relevant to a player who's used to the mind numbing repetition of a grind game like Warframe then don't act like that you speak ill against a dev staff that's actually putting work in.

The game has an ingame quick guide, which in fact does explain how to use spells. This is the exact same guide on their website which breaks down the basics:
https://www.ironmace.com/gameguide

Also, it's a playtest, give them a break...

Good no one cares about your opinion. The games play test that wasn't even advertised on steam had almost 100k players. The game is fine no one cares what you are going to do just move on. You couldnt figure out how to use magic?? You literally just right click, how in the f*ck did you not right click once HAHAHA. Typical complainer IQ
Legendairy2 Dec 30, 2022 @ 3:37pm
I probably would have deleted your post as well based on the info provided. Seems like you barely put any hours into the game yet want to criticize it, makes zero sense. It isnt their fault you couldnt use your eyes and find the in game guide that breaks down all the basics. Not to mention the ON SCREEN TIPS that literally tell you how to cast spells, sounds like a case of user error

Not that Dec 30, 2022 @ 3:58pm
somehow people can find the discussion/discord/reddit to complain but not to find basic info about the game lfmao
vinny1a Dec 30, 2022 @ 7:09pm
Did they delete it or did people report the post? The game isn't going anywhere with your negative comments. The game is really well liked a few people complaining doesn't matter.

Go to options and look at keyboard commands like every other PC game in existence.

The mobs we fought in level 2 are actually level 1 mobs many people are in for a level 2 treat very soon.

This mongoloid mouth breathing slack jawed ♥♥♥♥ stick has 0.2 hour played on the game and got mad because the first enemy killed him. Then went straight to cry and talk ♥♥♥♥ XD

Go back to Fortnite or Barbi land adventures or whatever you play

Honest, it's on you bro. Don't hassle yourself about it too much and approach it more methodically, that's how the game itself is best enjoyed too.
You say criticism, but in context of what this is (a limited time play testing practically open to anyone) complaining about anything currently unfinished isn't feedback, which is the purpose to have the game be play-tested (to gather feedback from players on what they do have, so you must have patience either while attempting to play an unfinished game, or by waiting for a more stable release so you are able to better enjoy yourself).
Sareseras Dec 31, 2022 @ 4:11am
Playtest lacks tutorial so you have to figure things out yourself or check youtube for advice?

Some games have too much handholding, while others are better with less.

Considering how this thread is going, it's more likely gone because other people besides the developers who simply reported the post.

Probably wasn't even good criticism when reading the current complaint, ever heard about productive criticism?

In some games it takes 5 minutes to just find a match, so thinking 5 minutes playtime in a game is worth a review or criticism is... worrying to the point where we would like OP to get therapy.

Edit: decided to report this one with Schadenfreude at the thought OP could think it was the devs again, but its not a good look as a thinking human being so it would be a favor to get this removed.

In the good ol' days we didn't have a tutorial forced in our face to teach us what to do, instead you maybe had a manual which gave you a bit of info or an optional tutorial segment, Dark and Darker has the former, apart from that you could roll your face on your keyboard, check the keybinds, actually take a small amount of time to practice or read your abilities, you're mad at the game because you're not being spoon fed information? that's a you issue.

As for your post being "deleted", that's not on the devs, you posted on the playtest discussion forums, not on the actual dark and darker general discussion forums, the playtest is over, so the playtest forums go bye bye. You're not the only one giving criticism for the game, you weren't hand picked to have your criticism deleted, you're not special.

As for what criticism OP gave? here ya go (i know it's long, don't mean to flood the discussion, blame OP.)

i will now recount my first five minutes of play.

friend says to get this game as it has a lot in common with hunt showdown which we have been playing for a bit.

i get the game and install it.

load in and select wizard because i like magic in rpgs.

there is no tutorial.

try to party with my friend.

realize the only way to find him is to manually search his name. no steam "join game" option or friend invite.

partied up finally so i click play.

"please select a region"

nothing in the message says how to actually do this.

finally see the option to do so.

start a game.

realize it has basically oblivion"s graphics...

pull out my staff to test my magic.

no magic...

left click is just a bash, right click say to pick a spell from memory yet does not elaborate on how to do this.

we go through a door.

spiders!

like the mystical wizard i am, i bash them with my useless staff.

i die.

my friend kills spiders with his sword.

realize the animations are just as stilted and gross looking as oblivion's.

my friend dies.

decide to give it another go since that first run was so short.

start match.

this time i am gonna figure out the magic.

open keybinds to find a button to let me open my "memory" for my spells.

no such keybinds.

finally realize my memory is one of my 2 skills.

pick fireball.

we go through a door.

spiders again.

this time im ready.

right click!

and then i realize that my spell has a 3 billion year long charge.

take loads of damage because the spiders move faster than either of us and running doesn't seem like it is a thing in this game.

finally let loose my fireball.

kills my friend and a single spider.

i die to the remaining 4...

alt F4.

uninstall game.

i am sorry if you enjoy this game, but this was my first impressions. the game explained nothing and there was no tutorial. i never learned the game structure or literally anything else. the game looked bad and felt bad to play. and before anyone whines that i didn't read into this game before playing it, i should be able to learn the game by just playing the game. it is just plain bad game design to require the player to use outside resources to even get more that a minute into a match.

i may come back to this game in the future when it is actually released, but as the game is now, that first 5 minutes killed any interest i had in the game. it could very well be an awesome game, but i just simply don't want to give it the time after that. i will take a game that looks good and explains itself well over it any day of the week.
Divine Knockout (DKO) General Discussions

This isn't just a skill issue, this is a refusal to learn issue, if the OP doesn't get actual tutorial prompts forced in their face, it's an issue for them. This wasn't proper critique OP, you in your very own words gave the game FIVE MINUTES to please you, you didn't even make an attempt to understand, learn, or improve, that's not criticism, that's just you venting.
