I play with a Steam Deck, and I think that's gonna be rough. You can't add any aim assist, or else it will kill the precision aspect of the game. And without that, analog sticks are not going to cut it. Long range shots are basically impossible, IMO. Even with the Steam Deck's touch pad, inventory management is definitely slower than what I could do with a mouse.

Some class/weapon combos can work, but you can't really make the whole game controller viable without changing the fundamentals of it.

I play Tarkov using a controller so I'm sure you can fit Steam controller settings to work with the game. All the settings are there to fine-tune a controller to work with almost any kind of game especially if you a DS4 or other motion touch pad supported controller. This game probably won't need a touch pad as it's fairly simple to begin with.

Does it work well with the Steam Deck out of curiosity? I do know it's good to have a keyboard on hand, probably a mouse as well already.

Sorry i don't use much controller except for fighting game.
However i don't see how a controller would make the game more playable than a keyboard and mouse.

kinda weird arguments. a controller would work just fine. many games implement them just fine, there are no features in this game that would be impossible for a controller to handle. controllers are much more comfortable to use, obviously aim will not be as good as with a mouse but this isnt a super fast paced twitch game. that is no excuse not to add a simple beneficial feature

Use Big Picture mode and bind keys to your controller through Steam itself.

It's fine, performance is good as far as I could tell. (I'm pretty sure the only stuttering was server side. We all had that problem, right?) The combat is slow enough that switching between the touchpad and the thumb stick is alright, although can be a problem at times, like if you're getting circled by a rogue. You have to play with button bindings, but that's kind of what you sign up for with the Steam Deck.

I probably should have practiced with gyro aiming. I sadly didn't think to try that until just now. I kind of brushed that idea to the side when I disliked it in Splatoon.
