Damage vs Power

Title - does anyone know which is better? What the difference is? The stats screen in game doesn't explain much. For example, would 5 physical power be better than 5 physical damage?

1 Strength gives 1 Physical Power which equals +.5% damage to melee attacks.

You can see that +% damage equally adds dps to slow and to fast weapons because % is % is %.

Your job is to decide if +Weapon Damage is more damage than what Physical Power would have given you in your specific Gear Quality, Attribute Total, Ability and Trait build.
