Parry/Block/Deflect
We all know using Chilvary type mechanics would be amazing, but at the very least allow non shield users to defend themselves.

Edit: When I say Chilvary type mechanics I absolutely do not mean Chilvary tech. Just some of the basics like parry, kick, dodge or stamina. Each weapon already have direction blows, but some simple mechanics to make surviving 2 skeletons possible wen you're not a fighter. Lord help you if you're fighting a wraith solo.

A lot of basic melee mechanics are missing.

Hitstun / Interrupts
Knockback

For example, getting smashed in the face with a War Maul should cancel a bow draw and interrupt spell channeling.

At least bardiche and longsword get block options, really ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ satisfying blocking arrows with those.

Where is the bash with buckler, light and roundshield?

lmao hitstun/interrupts? you really need more help playing 2 handers that 2 shot? So bad. Getting smashed in the face by war maul 1 shots, what more do you want? hitstun the corpse?

would be imbalanced given how powerful 2 handers are unfortunately

I'd like them to keep the combat system as simple as possible.
Just polish it more but if it becomes competitive as Chivalry/Mordhau it loses all of its concept. The equip tier, the teamwork and knowing the dungeon, all of that would be useless if I find someone who drags all of his hits and dodge everything.
At least that's what my thought.

I don't get the praise for Chivalry's mechanics. The mechanics of Chivalry is what ended up killing the game; hell, MORDHAU was created by Chivalry players who couldn't stand the BS tactics that were being done thanks to said game's mechanics.

And then in Mordhau ultimately the same happened, drags. Drags everywhere XD

If the devs of DnD allow us to simply bind an attack from a specific angle to a key input, that'd be glorious, given the claustrophobic dungeon corridors.

Who wants to have complex sweaty melee combat in this game?

The glorious crouch swinginging. No thanks.

No, they would ruin the game. It's not that type of game.

Also some weapons can already block and have certain swing patterns

There's drags in the game already. You do them to hit multiple opponents and hit exposed parts that aren't covered by the shield.

That's just the nature of melee games. Don't fight it, love it.
