Must be a status effect but what I've noticed is it makes your vision blurry and clerics apparently do not get the blurry vison.

Nothing yet - Devs have said it was added just for fun but they plan to add a purpose to it in the future.

I noticed that the ale doesn't show description in the shop. It does in your inventory though. From what I can remember it gives a strength boost but makes you drunk. And by drunk, I mean obliterated lol. I personally decided against it after my first attempt at using it.
