Worth getting for a MSFS2020 player?
As the title says I play MSFS2020 currently but been getting very frustrated about it's issues lately so been looking for another flight sim to try out. Is XP12 worth it and how does it compare with AI ATC and traffic, price/quality of addons and the performance of the game?

Although I personally enjoy MSFS more than XP 12 I do feel that XP 12 is worth it. There are some pretty good addons out there including addons that make it visually similar to MSFS. Examples include Ortho4XP, simHeaven X-WORLD, GeoReality Global Forests v2 and Orbx TrueEarth. Performance is fine (at least on my end). I really don't know much of anything about stock ATC and traffic in either sim as I use online networks for this.

I've found ATC a bit more accurate in xplane, but it's still far from realistic. If you are willing to spend some time to download textures to improve the visuals it is quite a decent simulator. The instruments look sharper than in MSFS with more realistic shadows in the cockpit. Instruments are a bit easier to read in VR in xplane because everything is a bit more crisp, but the VR controls are a lot worse than in MSFS. Performance is about the same for both sims. See a few screenshots I've made recently using the public beta:

Alright thanks. I don't mind the stock visuals in XP12 based on videos and screenshots and if anything prefer them over MSFS a little. I don't know, gives me a more older flight sim nostalgia feel I guess.

I've seen some stuff about the default ATC (something I do use in MSFS) and it doesn't look horrible most of the time but then others it looks like a pain to use. AI traffic as far as I know needs to be spawned in manually using the default aircraft in full quality which kills the performance? I don't know I'm just going based on google searches and youtube videos.

you can use a plugin for AI traffic, e.g. LiveTraffic. It depicts real wold traffic in x-plane and it brings several airplane models. So you dont need to spawn x-plane airplanes to have traffic.
For me this works fine, with nearly no impact on FPS (I use LiveTraffic)

Okay I wasn't aware of any traffic plugins but glad there is some that don't ruin the FPS

I am a private pilot and use both. I prefer XP-12 for aircraft 'feel' and look, MSFS is better for looking out the window.

I only use XP12 for the FF A350/757/767 and Toliss planes. I mostly fly MSFS, so to answer your question. Fly Both (If you have space)

Looks like they bought it and refunded it shorty after.

I bought XP12 way back on my old system where it couldn't even load the game but I now have much more capable PC so I'm thinking about giving the game a go.

Alright I might give it a go. What is included in the demo? Can't seem to find anything about it really.

The Portland, Oregon area. Everything else is the exact same.
