X-Plane 12

X-Plane 12

It's unbelievable, how smooth X Plane 12 runs
I hadn't thought X-Plane 12 would run at all
with my RX580. But on medium settings
I'm getting around 25 to 50 FPS and even on the low end
it feels extremely smooth compared to MFS.

Overall I think the sim looks pretty too. I hadn't expected
much improvement in the ground scenery anyway...

Clouds however look pretty bugged and on some
settings horrifying. They should have fixed the clouds before release.

Try max quality for clouds. They're not bad. I wouldn't call 25-50 fps smooth, but sadly that's probably what I get too, at least over cities.

X-Plane is not a game that run 100 FPS+
I think the normal range is 30 - 60

Flight simulators really don't need high frame rates to appear smooth.

It depends on what you're used to. Yes the game is playable at 30 fps, but it doesn't look smooth for sure. Smooth is when frame rate matches monitor refresh, in my case 60 fps.

you only need good FPS for Safe Start and Landing

You don't need it to fly. The physics run faster than the frame rate anyway. But it's much easier on the eyes to have good FPS.

True, unless you are playing in VR. Low FPS in VR makes people sick.
