Increase Hat Switch Sensitivity

How do you increase the look speed of the hat switch on a HOTAS? Currently it takes about 8 seconds to pan my view to look out a side window so I almost have to pause the game to look around.

This is not exactly the answer you're looking for but you can map buttons to different camera positions. Buttons for left, right and default should suffice.

You can do this via your joystick settings. Fire up the Settings menu, navigate to Joystick and select your HOTAS device. Under the Hat Switch options you should have a bunch of directions (up, up + right, right, etc.) mapped to each of the directions on your hat switch. Select one and in the drop down menu that pops up chose Custom and then where 'Choose a command' pops up click Edit and in the search bar type 'fast'. There are a bunch of Rotate view options under Views - Manipulate View for fast pan and tilt; pick the correct one for the direction you chose earlier and apply. Repeat for all directions and you'll have a much faster view speed.

Worth noting that, I think, you only get the pan and tilt options and not the diagonals.

I found someone suggesting that for XPlane 11, but those options don't show up under custom for me in XPlane 12.
