XPD-14980 – X-Plane immediately crashes on startup when launched through the installer on Windows
Possible scenery update too.
It's in beta.
"12.0.9 comes with a global scenery update! We’ve re-rendered the scenery with slight improvements. Including slightly higher and more accurate mesh fidelity, new autogen/forestry updates and flattening issues with some airports. Users will be notified in the sim main menu if a scenery update is available to download."
The game looks exactly the same in the 3 areas I tried out (NYC, Paris, and an official DLC I had purchased, St Croix). I don't notice any texture ,environment, or water changes to speak of. Game looks goodas always, but to me at first glance in these 3 areas, it looks exactly the same as before.
Also, I noticed significant changes in how LOUD the game makes my fans run compared to when I played XP 12 yesterday...BEFORE this huge update. Yikes. Optimization, please!
Browsing (Steam's XP 12) game files showed my scenery paks have been updated as far as I can tell, although the game still shows version 12.8 RC3 on main screen, and not 12.9 version, which is weird (I had thought this HUGE update was for 12.9 fixes and a scenery update?).
Is there anything I'm missing? Game update took a while but finished, and verifying game file integrity (Steam) also finished with no errors. I have many DLCs installed, and all global scenery files installed, as well. WHat was supposed to be "updated" re. scenery?
some - like me love to fly remote regions away fromn the traffic and imo world scenery should cover all of the planet if MSFS can do it xplane should really do it as well
While I agree Xplane should have it all mapped, Microsoft owns Bing Maps and, is Microsoft so implementing it's own map code into it's own flight sim code wasn't as big a hassle as it may be for Xplane. By all accounts it was a pain in the butt for them, but not nearly as difficult as it would be for Xplane
