This Compared to MSFS?
Hi guys. I am fairly new to Flight Sims, not very good at them. I have MSFS and also X-Plane 11. With X-Plane 12, how does it compare to MSFS? Is 12 worth getting? Also, I would be playing on a laptop, so would only have mouse touchpad and keyboard for controls. Anyone playing this on a laptop with similar control setup? Thoughts and help appreciated :)

You can download the demo for free and see how it runs on your laptop. Don't expect to put the graphics very high, or it will be a slideshow. Start in the middle and work up if able.
Fly by keyboard? No thanks. Buy an inexpensive joystick with throttle at least if possible.
Wallyworld or Amaze-on are good places for such.

XP12 has a similar 'mouse yoke' control system as XP11 has, so if you're ok with that, it should work the same. Do as J. Elkroc suggested and try the demo. That way you can also test if your laptop is compatible in the first place. You can get the demo from Laminar's website: https://www.x-plane.com/desktop/try-it/

I have been using the Extreme 3D Pro myself for many years, and I definitely recommend one, especially if you're on a budget. Makes a huge difference over mouse/keyboard no matter what sim you decide to use.

Thanks for the help and info! What is the Extreme 3D Pro, and where can I order it?

Extreme 3D Pro is an inexpensive 3 axis joystick. A great beginner device available at any electronics retailer, and Amazon
