I feel like it has to be coming. Their SNES library is perfect for HD-2D stuff and Bahamut Lagoon is up their with Live A Live in terms of renown. I would be surprised if it never comes or was never considered.

They've been slowly porting/remaster/remaking their older games, so it wouldn't surprise me if it eventually does happen.

There is a very polished version of the game, made by a team, I greatly recommend it! It is the best next thing after a remake. Even FF6 Brave New World is better than any remake, making the game feel fresh.

ugh exclusive games are the worst because we lose digital media when the games get old and nobody can find or afford the systems they are on. I am a digital saving advocate in saving past media so it is not lost to time. We can use it to learn about the culture at that time, and game developers can use it as past experiences to see how older games were made. Thanks to exclusive system games and streaming platforms, some media have already been lost. For example, thanks to the closing of Stadia, we lost some games on it exclusive on that system. That example shows how easy it is to lose digital game media.
