Difference between Trade command software MK1 and MK2?
"Buy at best price", "Sell at best price."

This doesn't make much sense to me, as you still have to designate both a station, and a goods. Does a single station have more than one price for a specific good? It sounds like MK2 does not really do anything more than MK1... Could someone please explain this to me?
I am still fairly new to this game.

Trade Command MK2 offers these commands:
Buy Ware for Best Price
Sell Ware for Best Price
Transfer Freight via Drones

The Buy/Sell only work when you are not in the ship *sigh*

  • "Buy Ware" tells a ship to buy a specific amount of an item from a chosen station, and bring it back to that ship's assigned Home Base
  • "Sell Ware" tells a ship to take a specific amount of item from its Home Base, and sell it to the station you choose.
  • "Buy Ware for Best Price" tells a ship to endlessly buy an item you choose (from among those that its Home Base needs), and it will find the station with the lowest price to buy it from.
  • "Sell Ware for Best Price" tells a ship to endlessly sell item you choose (from among those that its Home Base produces), and it will find the station that's paying the highest price to sell it to.

When it's written like this, it makes a lot more sense, and I can see the benefit and difference.. So with 3 and 4, the "designating a station" isn't really telling it to only use that station, it's just using that station for a list of goods?

Thanks for this explanation. I'll have to experiment and play around with it a bit more to understand it.

Yeah no. The MK2 looks to be the exact same as the MK1.
3 and 4 are no different than 1 and 2, and I can only input one order at a time?
"Buy x amount of specific goods at specific station" or "Sell x amount of specific goods at specific station". Not both, and it doesn't seem to want to just allow to say "Find the goods and make the trades". It's all very specific designations, which is exactly the same as 1 and 2....

Still need an explanation on what i'm missing here, because I'm seeing zero difference between 1 - 2 and 3 - 4.

3 and 4 will depend on your station settings. So if you have SP Plant and have settings as flollow: Energy Cells set at 16, Crystals at 1,684 and jump at 5 jumps, your ship will only look within 5 jumps for the best price to either sell or buy depening on command (3 or 4). And it will keep doing this as long as it can. Buy Ware/Sell Ware will only do one run.

Ok. It's starting to make a little more sense.. Based on this though, this means that I"m required to own a station of my own?

The difference is that MK1 will only do one run and stop and MK2 will keep doing its runs except for Transfer Freight via Drones

The part i'm stuck on is that this seems useless, if you can only select one good, for one specific station. So the MK2 is only really good for filling up your cargo bay, before you need to give it another order IF the station in question doesn't have enough stock to fill up your bay. Otherwise it serves exactly the same as MK1.

I don't really know what this "Transfer Freight via Drones" is though.

If i'm required to have my own station, then i guess i'm going to need to wait to bother with this one... Off to MK3 asap then?

Very easy way to learn stations is to build an M wheat farm in Herron's Nebula(assuming God hasn't deleted the Rimes Factory & the Space Fuel Distillery's). You don't need your own TL just hire the Mammoth in Argon Prime. It'll cost you less than 2mil for the station & the 2 Murcury's you'll need to keep it going. Though I always use CLS 1&2 instead of Trade MK2.
